I've got to get my first service done soon, and the cheapest I've found is £220 at Ripon LR (very helpful people too) - but a bit of a long detour.
I saw an ad in this month's LRO for www.adventure4x4leeds.co.uk who are an independent servicing company and LR specialist, and can service whilst maintaining the LR warranty.
It's cheaper (£190 all in) and much closer, but would any of you go 'independent' rather than main dealer for your warranty services?

A change in the law a while ago meant that you can use independants for servicing, while keeping the warranty in tact. However, while I would go for the cheapest place with any other car, I wouldn't with a new LR. These cars need their software updates and it would be unlikely that the independant has the machinery to do this.Matt

I agree with Matt, if it wasnt for the software updates, although they do say they are LR specialists.
Not sure how the updates are released to the network - it might be that they have access too, and therefore have the ability to upload. As the law has been changed, LR cannot withold them can it? Obvious, and I'm only stating this because I feel the need to type, give them a call and ask. A saving is a saving and, most independents I've dealt with give cars a lot more loving.
"In 2004 Les Potts 4 Wheel Drive was awarded access to Land Rovers GTR (Global Technical Reference), The GTR website provides 24-hour access to the full range of up to date technical information, special tools, diagnostic equipment and training material. This information is essential to carry out a complete range of service and repair operations on Land Rover vehicles to maintain them to the original Land Rover specification.
In 2005 Les Potts 4 Wheel Drive again became the first independent in the world to receive the new Land Rover Vehicle Communication Module (VCM) and Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS) software. This system upgrade supports all diagnostics on Range Rover Sport, Discovery 3 and future vehicles."
So I see no reason why they wouldn't have access to all the latest software updates and certainly seem to have the equipment to implement them.
I for one will certainly be asking them for a quote to service my Disco when the time comes. Now an ex-D3 owner after 7 happy years. Miss the car but not the big bills

LR workshops don't use WDS anymore ....it's been IDS for a little while now. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
They seem to have the latest kit and access to GTR.
That's enough for me - I can still take it into the stealers for any warranty work.

A phone call to reassure you that they are using IDS would no doubt be helpful though ...No?21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
Excellent care (apart from their grubby tshirts - good old honest muck).
First class service in all senses of the word, and just a touch over £150 all in.
Confirmed it for me really - the only time to go back to the stealers is for warranty work...Discovery 3 tdv6 7 seat Buckingham Blue

Leeds is a bit far for me to go but I'll certainly be looking for the same sort of care and service from Les Potts 4x4 in Sunderland when service time comes around in SeptemberNow an ex-D3 owner after 7 happy years. Miss the car but not the big bills

He was mentioned as a good bet as well - or you're not that far from Ripon LR (who are currently quoting £219 inc V)
I'm happy to encourage independents and give them my business wherever possible.Discovery 3 tdv6 7 seat Buckingham Blue
