It would seem that there are some D4s out there with properly aligned halogen infill (mwestcrew, Winger) and others (like GraemS & me) where they are not Sad The attached picture shows what I mean.

In the picture you can clearly see the Xenon main beams pointing straight ahead and the halogen infill already more than a foot above them. This picture was taken with the car only 10-12 ft from the wall so by the time you get on the road the halogens are lighting the trees. The halogen lights do have a useful very spread out pattern which would be great if it was closer to ground level Wink
Given what I've read here in several threads, I guess I have to accept it as a "feature" but I am confused as to why some cars seem to be OK and others are not Confused

That's a very interesting picture, and I can see why some of you guys are a bit put out. Mine is not like this, I'll try and post a pic in the next few days.

The light pattern is just like my (non-adaptive) lights.

I'm not prepared to accept it, and I'm encouraged that there are vehicles in the UK with the same fault.

Now that I know they are not all the same, I agree with you - back to the dealer Evil or Very Mad

I'd be very interested in seeing the beam pattern on yours. Has your D4 got the adaptive lights too? Maybe there is a bad batch somewhere?
Although as I think about it, that seems odd as I thought that the adaptives and non-adaptive were completely different units. Or are they basically the same unit with some additional cleverness?
Either way I would love to see the pattern of some correctly aligned adaptives so that I can show it to my dealer when I go back to get them to fix mine Very Happy

Your picture shows the same light pattern that I get when my vehicle is about ten feet from the wall. My lights are non adaptive and make a realy good job of lighting the treetops as I drive home from work each day!
I also find that if I use the auto dip feature that I am blinding lorry drivers on the opposite carridgeway of the motorway.

Mine are adaptives, I'll try and sort out a picture in the next couple of days.

Well, despite all the talk of misalignment, I have added the adaptives to my order. I'm told this will have no impact on delivery date (currently estimated to be 19 Apr). I hope he's right...

You have done the right thing IMO - the halogen infill issue is annoying but doesn't detrract form the fact that the adaptive lights are excellent if you drive on country roads. Anyway, it would appear that some non-adaptive folks have the alignment problem too Sad

My car is (finally - after I rang and chased them) going in for its assurance package in a week.
I have asked them to look at the Halogen alginment at the same time and would love to be able to show them a picture of a properly aligned version. Can some kind soul please put one in their gallery so I can present some evidence that they are not all the same.
Thanks
Richard
