From my 2007 Handbook I quote:
"You will need to gain access to the inside of the
headlamp unit. See REMOVING A HEADLAMP
(page 93).Move the lever down for when
driving in left-hand drive countries and up for
right-hand drive countries."
So it looks that your deliberations are wrong and its "UP" for the UK; sorry.

Thanks John,
That useful hint was left out of my 2005 handbook! But just to be sure that I totally understand, please can someone confirm which setting these lights are set to? (Shamefully stolen photo from Nickhearne) - EU or UK?

Sorry for the delay I been away from the computer that knows my password;
The underneath lever "B" moves in the opposite direction to the lever you activate "A".
So the headlamp shown there is set for Continental use. [Assuming the photo is the right way up and I think it is]
