Accelerator pedal sensor readings
Hello to you all!
I just bought me a 2006 Discovery 3 2.7 TDV6. I love this car, it's all that I wanted, but it has a few bugs to fix
One of them is, that when I drive at constant speed, sometimes the car doesn't know on what rpm it would drive, so rpms are jumping up and down. I read a lot about it in this forum, and I know it could be torque converter, but I also found another option, and that is accelerator pedal sensor. I looked into it and tryed to read the values of potentiometer. And here is what it is interesting to me... There are two potentiometer readings, and thay are not the same. I made a video of it so you will be able to see what I am talking about. My question now is. Is it suposed to be like that or is this the possible source of my problem? Is there a way to recalibrate both sensors to show the same value? Many thanks for all the answers!

If it was a problem you should have a throttle pedal fault code.
And also the throttle wouldn’t work.
The % seamed to track closely ?
If the throttle had a fault the car would increase in speed rather than just the engine revs with a TC fault

This may not be your issue but ..........
A few years ago my MY13 D4 (SDV6 3.0) with 30 or 40k on the clock at the time was jumping about and the gearbox was shifting at odd times and would surge for no apparent reason (on a straight piece of motorway for instance). The nice man from Land Rover turned up and said "I know what that is" 8)
He proceeded to clean both MAF sensors (lots on here how to do that when they are gunked up) and cleaned the throttle valve intake butterfly thingy (as it can stick and jump). He said either or both can 'lie' to the engine in so much as not being correct and the engine hunts in response which in turn feel like a gearbox surge (strange shifting demands). True to his word it resolved the issue (and I have always kept them clean at each yearly service ever since).
Pence for you to get some proper cleaner and have a cleanup maybe

Iirc one reads 0 to 100 and the other 100 to 0, kind of a safety thing.

Thank you for answers. Kilovolt now that you mentioned, I actually blanked EGR valves and throw out the butterfly 2 days ago, but haven't had a chance to drive the car jet because it's not registrated jet. I also cleaned all the sensors and intake manifold Y piece. So if your words are correct, I may allready fixed the problem but don't know it jet. Hmm...I will go for a test drive somehow without licence plates to test it

Ok so update...my car is on the road again and I have tested if rpms are still jumping...and they do...so...it is not the EGRs, MAP sensor is clean, I hope it is not the torque converter. It doesn't do it all the time, but still not that rare. I also noticed that sometimes the car doesn't seem to have power when coming to a hill. It starts to slow down. It feels like it is one gear too high, but the rpms aren't that low on the gauge...if I step on the pedal much more, than after a short time it accelerates, but I don't have a feeling that it would change gear in the mean time. So...back to garage...any other ideas what to check? I was thinking to change the gearbox oil and update the gearbox software...could this help?

Did you change the ccf file after removing EGR's

Yes, pumping out the gearbox oil has to be worth ago.
5.5litres, ZF6HP compatable oil (raveoil?)
search filo on here, to see how to change all the oil.
sounds like the gearbox is slipping though

I actually replaced the old oil with new Mannol and added "Lubegard 19610 Dr. Tranny Instant Shudder Fixx" and it fixed everything for me. Still works like new.

Great to hear that you solved the problem, I will ask you to tell me did you change the oil completely, transmission flush or standard oil change?
