Hi I've got a problem with my ABS? faultmate tells me that the lh rear abs sensor is open cicuit, I swopped the sensors on the two rear wheels but the problem is still with the lh wheel, disconnected the rh sensor again and got the same fault on this wheel, plugged it in again and cleared fault now that has gone but lh fault is still there. Cleaned the connection with spray but still the same fault. Any ideas
Thanks Gav.
Ps think I got my faultmate just in time, only arrived last week, Thanks BBS and Wiggs.

Hi Gav,
I suspect that it is a wiring short. This is not unknown on the LHS rear.
Remove the wheel arch liner and check carefully. You may find that the insulation is worn through.

Thanks peter, I assume when you say remove the wheel arch liner you mean the front lh wheel arch? also my fault states open circuit not shot circuit, dont Know if the faultmate differenciates(?) between the two (open/short), followed the cable to the lh arch everythig seems ok at first look but will investigate tomorrow as its dark now. in there i found two connectors one with large green/yellow wire assume it is can bus or something also connector with 4 wires to it, will check this one tomorrow.
Thanks Again Gav.

Well-spotted Gav,
Yes the FRONT LHS wheel arch liner.
Re: The short .vs. open circuit
If the wiring wear is significant it may well become an open circuit.

Thanks peter you were spot on . Where the cables come up behind the wheel liner the white/yellow wire had a green spot on it, when i pulled at this part it gave way, Quick solder and everything ok now faults gone. Put extra insulation around the cables at this point now. May be worth a post in faults and fixes as ive heard a couple of other stories like this.
Thanks Again Peter,
Thanks to faultmate,
Thanks to wiggs for wiring diagrams,
Thanks Gav.

Hi
I've got the same problem with my ABS Right Rear Sensor wire.
I know it is a wire because I swopped the sensors on the two rear wheels and the problem is all the time in the right wheel.
I checked and cleaned rear connector with no results.
Does the wire from the RHS Sensor go to the FRONT LEFT HAND SIDE wheel arch liner connector or somewhere else?

Is there anybody who can help me with this problem?
1. Maybe anybody has a wiring diagram of the ABS Sensors in D3?
I registered on TOPIx, but they still did not respond (that was 3 days ago).
2. Does someone know if the Right Rear ABS Sensor Cable go straight to the ABS Module or is there anything between?
Any connections between the Sensor and the ABS Module?
If yes, where and how many?
Please help.

Fronts go direct to the ABS module
Rears have one connection inbetween .
I would suspect the connector would be in the front right wheel arch...looking at Gavs findings
Your looking for a white wire with green tracer ....and a white wire G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Right Rear Sensor and Left Rear Sensor going to LEFT HAND SIDE wheel arch liner connector.

I asked the dealer to check this for me. In my car only lots of muck around the connector. He told me these problems normally only occur after people start fiddling with the wiringlooms. Typical : they cut of the bleu connector because there's water in it. But apparantly the water comes into the connector through the loom "syphon" style... So in my car : all was in place, nothing damaged.
