ABS Activates on Motorway

I have a problem with the ABS activating without pressing the brake. It usually happens on a left hand motorway bend at (not excessive) speed. It varies where it happens but I think the road grade may be a contributory factor. Took it in, the dealer changed Shocks (all 4) and charged me 2500. No change. Of course test-drove it with the dealer and it didn’t happen. Anyone know what this could be?

Thanks

Dealer has done work that was not needed. Evil or Very Mad Tell them to replace the old ones and give your money back. Should have checked other options (cheaper) first.

This is the DSC activating. can be caused by something as simple as low pressure in a tyre or the steering angle needs recalibrating. If they did not try these first make a compalaint to LR about the dealer.

I agree with caverD3 my car did this going round a roundabout and it was a slow puncture in my lefthand front tyre that kicked in DSC, quite a shock when it activates.

Yes, thirded! Check tyre pressures and condition first. Also, could be wear in suspension bushes and/or steering gear. An out of calibration steering angle sensor can also do this (is your wheel straight when the car is driving straight)

All these should have been checked before moving on to shock absorbers. Was this a main dealer or indy?

I assumed it was a main LR dealer who should know better. Rolling Eyes

thank you all. Yes this was a main dealer and I have not yet paid them. they have the car back and say they will check suspension sensors and "recalibrate" suspension. whatever that means. i have kept the old shocks and will ask them to replace.

Glad you haven't paid them yet. Very Happy
Make sure they calibrate the steering angle. Idea
