Has anybody ever taken the AA Repair cover out. Very soon I will be buying a D3 and having been looking into waranty options.
Any experience with this?

Yep, I have it and had my first claim a couple of months ago for suspension compressor failure. They paid out no problem at all.
Claim up to 5 times a year with £35 excess for a £500 claim. Silver members get 7 claims!

Thanks for the info, I did a quick quote and it came out about £165 for the year including recovery.

Yup i have it too have had it for the last 4 years
used it a number of times between my old D2 and current D3 and never had a problem apart from once when my clock spring went, had the aa out and had the call out recorded but because it didnt get fixed straight away and i used the car whilst waiting for it to go into dealer they refused the claim saying that the vehicle hadnt actually broken down,
Lesson learnt there, if i had had it done and not used car in between they would of paid out

I had it on two cars, D3 and a clio, with two drivers home start and recovery for £25 a month, the only one that paid out which no fuss, may not get it all but a lot cheaper and £500 is a lot better than lots of refused claims. Joined the BMWX5 45e group

So whats the main difference between say the AA repair cover and Warrant Direct apart from the yearly cost?

Although it'll state AA on the yellow documents, it'll be underwritten by an insurance company.
I had AA repair cover, and just like Warranty Direct ..... a total waste of money.
eg AA covered a RH seized calliper, around 8 months later they wouldn't cover the LH seized calliper....... always on the road less travelled 🚧
< ‘tis but a mere scratch …….. it’ll polish out.

I have had AA warranty for many years and I've made one claim few years ago for a wishbone replacement, it was a massive battle to get them to pay even though they had communicated with Iain TFC at the time and agreed to pay, I ended up with giving them a ref no from financial ombudsmen as I raised a complaint , they paid very quickly.
I've just phoned and spoke to them about suspension fault, "does my cover include suspension"
"yes sir "
"I have a fault come up and the air suspension isn't operating properly "
"I'm sorry we don't cover air suspension "
"It's the only suspension I've got and you cover suspension"
"It doesn't say air suspension on your policy so we wouldn't cover it"
"Does it say you don't cover air suspension in my policy"
"No"
Here we go again
Oh Ron , AA warranty is covered by Motorway direct plc

I've had the cover since 2005, hassle galore making one claim , they don't want to pay again, I can't be ar ed, I've got a spare compressor and I know it's going to be the air dryer as I've got a FCR and read the fault codes, it's far less hassle to just sort it
The majority of these financial companies insurance /warranties are greedy bast s and are happy to rake it in but it's like getting blood from a stone when you try and claim, it's hrs of waiting for the phone to be answered, tried their renewals line answered straight away, sorry can't transfer you, back to waiting for ages, give up try the next day it's shi .
