I gotta say, if I had a captive audience this big and this enthusiastic (not just the off-roading ones) I'd be wanting to collect the private thoughts of it's collective.
I bet LR spent many 10's or 100's of thousands on focus groups and collective feedback & studies through some pompous marketing/research company, when in reality, they could get sooo much feedback for free from people on here. Bling and Mud drivers alike! Bodsys Brake Bible

I don't disagree that they should be interested ...but I think most manufacturers are aloof to similar forums and groups on the basis that they don't want to get caught up in the debate.
It is fairly clear that with the D3 & 4 they are interested in telling people that it can go anywhere as a selling point ...but don't actually expect the customer to take them up on the offer. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I bet that this forum is monitored by LR at some level. (Good humerous stuff for the AGM)
I also wouldn't be surprised if some of the "Stickier, Stickies" havent had a very small effect on recall descisions, then again who ever listed to the boffins at the back of R & D

i think these types of forums are influential...they are populated quite often by the office/pub car bore..who everyone tries to avoid until once every three years they need to change their car. Not everyone uses forums like this but a lot of people who don't listen to those who do...well at least once every three years.
when i had an er...um...mazda mx-5 ....mazda even hosted their own forum which the design team used to participate in. Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

We also have to think that anyone that registered on the forum in an official capacity would be hounded, questioned and slated relentlessly from day one.....
Even if 95% of the questions put to them were well intentioned (and I have no doubt that they would be ), it would be impossible for them to please everyone and whereas forums tend to highlight "the worst" in any brand, imagine what would happen if said person upset someone with one of their answers....
One thing would be for LR to host and control their own forum (it would be a brave move), but disco3.co.uk is independant and therefore LR would not be able to moderate it to reflect their own interests/identity..... 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

We have had the head designer on here before (as well as another involved in the development) but he was harrassed and harranged (but he also didn't seem to always listen or understand the feedback) Bodsys Brake Bible

Bodsy My point exactly...
When the guy registered looking for feedback on improving the Terrain Response system, he was inundated with complaints and suggestions about the EPB, EGRs you name it....
He didn't get involved again after that 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

"of it is collective"? Bodsy, go to the back of the class for apostrophe abuse
The "beasting" of the designer wasn't a high point in the life of the forum. If I were Land Rover I would have a couple of moles on the forum posting the odd enquiry and monitoring responses - I wouldn't declare who I was or why I was here.
And that, I'm sure, is exactly what happens.
Chaps, if you're listening.... I have no intention of going to the press about the EPB. I'd just really really really like you to hold your hands up that it's not suitably robust, that the service requirements are overly complex and onerous and offer to install improved/upgraded parts (D4 spec?) whenever a car suffers EPB failure.
Oh, is that an ML brochure on the coffee table? I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Or someone at Corporate LR gave him a b cking for using the forum for free feedback rather than the consultants on a fixed contract at a price that requires X amount of work per annum... The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...
Club "yes, I too have had the EGR's replaced..."

Club "yes, I too have had EPB failure..."
Club "yes, I too get mysterious bings and bongs..."

Complete off topic, but .........
Just driven an ML as a colleague is thinking of changing her company car.
I didnt like it. Too many stalks on the steering wheel and weird drving position, not even a plate to rest your left foot on, kept getting ankle stuck on the Kick Brake when trying to find somewhere for my left leg to rest.
In the end this colleague is going for the Volvo XC D4 HSE - Aintree Green
D4 Orkney my13 - gone
Stornaway D4. Gone, Didn't like it at all
D3 silver manual. Loved my first LR
