Only 700 miles...
I got my new D3 XS (black diesel 07 model year) right before Christmas. Almost immediately, I noticed a clonking noise when making tightish turns right, and when going round small roundabouts. Took it in to my dealer in January - they had a listen, agreed and had it in for two days (only 500 miles on the clock!). They replaced the n/s CV joint, but there was still a slight noise from the o/s joint, so they replaced that one too! Seems to be OK now...
Another thing - can this performance be right? There's a two-second delay before anything happens when you need power from the accelerator pedal. Say you're rolling up to a T-junction, foot-off, and a gap in the traffic appears and someone flashes you to turn across them, with the expectation that they probably won't need to slow down much to let you across - kind person!
I'm still rolling slowly, and put my foot down, waving "Thank you". Nothing... press harder... nothing... then BLIMEY! Now I need to hit the brakes because it's eventually leapt across in front of the oncoming car at the last minute and I'm going a bit fast into the turning...
The same thing coming off a roundabout - "Take the exit!" says Jane from her windscreen holder. I press the pedal, no response... then after a second the revs peak and the transmission bites, and I'm accelerating into the exit...
Finally - I had a D2 before, with Cruise Control. It used to keep to set speed really well, even in 30 limits with hills and dales. Now the D3's cruise control: OK on the flat, but come to a slope, and the speed drops by about 5 mph then there's a peak of revs before it catches up. So it's more like up-down-up-down - not a pleasant constant speed.
Is this familiar and normal, and I'm just being picky about Disco3 driving technique, or have I got an actual problem?
I mentioned all this to the dealer a few days ago, and they sent someone out to drive it with me. He agreed that something wasn't quite right, but suggested it might be the throttle pedal potentiometer having a bad spot.
He put it on the diagnostics computer and there were no errors reported...
My response is that as the Cruise Control exhibits the same delay effect, it might be more likely a software thing...
Any ideas/helpful suggestions?

I think on one of the posts it says something about the gearbox having to 'learn' yoiur style of driving. Not sure how long it takes to learn it.
I get that delay also, but I'm just adjusting my driving style a little. If you knock the auto stick to the left it goes into sports mode, does that help to engage a gear any earlier?
Just remember to take it out of sport if on the motorway, otherwise you won't get 6th gear.Bodsys Brake Bible

I too get the delay, and it has always done it. I am used to it, but I believe the 07 model is much better. I doubt its possible to update the software to 07 spec, but no harm in you asking your dealer.
I am suprised at your CC, my old D2 V8 was very poor at holding a speed - it was up and down like a yo yo!
My D3 is a dream in comparison, although I find the resume is very slow to react sometimes. But once it has settled at its speed, it is steady. I don't normally use it at low speeds however, and would not expect any CC system to be able to hold a steady 30, especially in such a heavy vehicle.

Thanks both for your comments - with regard to the 07 software being possible better; my D3 IS an 07 model year vehicle, so I wonder if there's a dealer-independent way of checking the software version?
I guess it wouldn't mean much without specialist knowledge, except that in the same way that a PC's BIOS version is usually dated, it might give some idea of whether it's the latest or not. There must be some secret keypress or something... I'll have a search on here and Google...

PS I've never seen the interior mirror dip or move in any way - what does it physically do as it dips?"This mobile telephone not supported - no refund will be given"

I've just switched off the dipping mirrors when reversing option. I found it really offputting that you could see the ground, but then had to dip your head to see if there were any cars further around you.
The odd occasion that I need to see the kerb, I'll just do as I used to do and move the mirror as required.
You can change it when your not moving by pressing the i button on the end of the indicator stalk & then using the <<>> & +- buttons on the steering wheel.Bodsys Brake Bible

It doesn't dip, it's the door mirrors that dip (if the option is switched on). The interior mirror darkens to stop you being blineded by the headlights behind you.Now an ex-D3 owner after 7 happy years. Miss the car but not the big bills
