Morning Ian,
Happy New Year to you and thank you for taking the time to put down your thoughts much appreciated.
Having not experienced the 8 speed box myself I don't have that point of reference, but I have always been really pleased with how my 6 speed acquits itself, so I guess I just assumed the 8 must be amazing, so good to know I am not necessarily missing out.Andy

Glad the niggles being resolve, though of course they never happened as no pictures
Have wondered with these all too clever gearboxes, how they cope when being driven by multiple drivers, like the hire car and does it confuse them for a while.
Also a new owner could drive somewhat differently to old so might lead to less than ideal performance to begin with whilst it learns a new way.D4 Landmark MY16 Santorini Black THE LAST

We've just had 'our' car returned from another visit to the dealers; hopefully the last time for a while...
This time we had a '64 plate SDV6 SE as our loaner and I liked the 8-speed box more in this one although it was still too keen to drop a cog or two when I expected the torque to propell us forward. If I had the £££'s, I'd happily go back and buy this one (whereas the HSE we had last time I just didn't get on with).
It's nice to be back in 'ours' and now I can think about that call to Geoff for a bit of coding. Timed heat in the HSE was a very nice feature

Today Geoff enabled timed heat for us (thanks Geoff, good to meet you and Andy at AJS also); thought I'd set it for a warm car when I came out of work, but ambient was still 10C in our covered car park so tomorrow when I get in at 06:20 will have to be the first trial (it's set for 05:55).
I don't usually get a day in the D4 as my Wife uses it as the family wagon, but I have to say I really enjoyed having it today.
Let's hope the teething troubles are now behind us...

Thank goodness for warranty
So we are booked in for our next instalment of Land Rover aftercare; this time Guava will be attending to the warranty work as I just can't face a repeat of the performance we experienced from another dealership earlier this month.
The problem this time:
Looking on the bright side, at the rate we are going, we'll have an entirely new set of controls on our D4 by the time we get through a year of ownership
I'm going to mention the glow-plugs too; on a cold morning, if I don't use the timed heat, we get quite a shake around on start up...

New compressor fitted today at Guava without any fuss or BS - hopefully we can now have a few trouble free months
I forgot to ask Geoff about voice control when he did the timed heat - anybody find this a useful addition on their early D4?

We have the voice control and if I'm honest, we don't use it.
I've never really been a fan of voice control, even on my iPhone, but if it's your thing and Geoff could fit for a reasonable price then go for it.
I'm sure it will add a few pennies come resale, or at the very least make yours stand out form other XS's
