6 speed automatic transmission gear oil recommendation D4 3l

Changing gear oil.
Dealer quoted £300 for 10l of gear oil alone.

Castrol oil finder said the D4 3l 2009 reg needs

Castrol Transmax Dexron- VI Mercon LV.

Opinions on this? £15 per lite.

Just changed diffs and transfer box.

Special transfer box oil 1.4l
Rear diff castrol saf
x0. Superseded by 75w 90 from castrol and confirmed with their technical by email.

Thanks, that's useful.

Vehicle has only covered under 40k miles from new. 10yrs old. Would anyone consider oil flush at such a low genuine mileage?
Ebay link expired but I will look at others.

Same as other post - take it to JAS and get them to flush it.
Mine was around same mileage as yours when I had it done just as a precaution.
I didn't think I'd notice a difference as I thought it was already smooth but on collection was even better.
I can't remember the cost but I think it was less than you've been quoted just for the oil although it was a couple of years ago.

You can get 4x10l containers of the Mannol AG55 from Ebay for under £40 at the moment which is the correct one to use for the 6 speed gearbox. There is also a version for the 8 speed which is the AG60 which is around £70 wish for 20l so still a bargain!
 Must stop buying shiny toys....
