Hudsonian: By any chance did you put in one of those double sided CDs (CD on one side DVD on other)? Because they are thicker.

zig: No all standard music CD's. The player got changed today by the dealer, fingers crossed for the new one.

So an update to you all. The car went in to the dealership on the 24th Jan and the unit was changed, all has been well since with the new unit. The jammed unit went to LR to get the CD's out of it, I got them back today. According to LR customer care this is quite quick, on average it usually takes 3 months and can take up to 5 months to get CD's back
