That wouldn't lose the pre-sets, they've done a hard reset not just a power down, if that's the case, time for a new unit

10forcash - thanks for the info... hope the new CD unit does not take as long as the coolant bottle. I have been waiting for the replacement coolant bottle since December, been told it is on back order, due February... something to do with manufacturing issues with the replacement bottle, according to the dealer, the fix to the original coolant bottle issue is also flawed so they are making another re-design.... due Feb.
Good fun owning a Disco 3

On the subject of the radio losing its presets - this happened to me at the same time as the cd error, along with the cds losing their place (i.e. not remembering what was playing between journeys - obviously, that's when it was working at all). I think these head units really don't cope at all well when they get read errors on cds.

Isn't there an eject pinhole of the kind you get on normal PC CD's that you can put a straightened out paperclip into for it to be force ejected?Bodsys Brake Bible

DiscoStu: Regarding the CD, no, all are from the shop, all original and none home made. Regarding the coincidence, the coolant level alarm has been there for two months, the CD is a new issue.

THe concern about removing the unit was just that it will take ages, and would be an inconvenience, but if you like visiting your dealer I guess thats cool.
I rather try fix small problems myself than run round to the dealer, just cos its such an inconvenience
Hudsonian - Same happened to me within the first few weeks of ownership (must be an Aberdeenshire thing!). I spent 3 days pushing the eject button at every opportunity while the display said CD error. Eventually, on the third day, it worked. Never a problem since......

JMC: Probably all the Pretenders we listen to up here I keep pressing the button, nothing but the humming noise... it is going in on Wednesday to be fixed so will let you all know what happens.
