5w 30 Engine Oil - Costco = £40 for 20litres |
|
Just seen costco have some 5w30 A1 Chevron engine oil in at £40 for 20 litres. Seems a hell of a lot cheaper than the usual £20 for 5 litres - anyone used it.
I was going to give my D3 a flush through but didnt want to waste £20/5litre oil.
Ive still got a little bit of a ticking from the engine so figured a flush might help.
Are there any engine flushing products that are OK to use with the 5w30 oil and TDV6.
if the Chevron oil is Ok I might just keep that in, or if not simply use it to flush the engine through. Duncan

Hi Dunc,
Having driven 100's of fleet vehicles, I can recommend and would also swear by Comma Oil products
Try this for flushing, I use at every oil change

I might get a couple of barrels tomorrow and order some engone flush. thought I would flush and drain the sump, take it off and see what it looked like, replace with a new sump then replace the oil every now and then using this

I've been using the Pela 6000 for a couple of years now for oil changes between services. It's so quick, clean and easy. Just make sure that the oil has been properly warmed so that it flows easily For I am a raindog too.

YLR may not be too happy when I turn up for my 60k service tomorrow and slap my own oil on the counter I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

been to get a couple of Barrels, but it says "semi synthetic" and some of the barrels say "mulitgrade".
I thought we had to use fully synthetic oil
should still be ok for a basic engine flush though - what do you think ?
bought a load of fireworks when i was there as well Duncan

Land Rover specify semi-synth to Ford spec WSS-M2C913-B (or C, which is backward compatible). I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
