2004 Tonga Green HSE Brought 1/5/17 from Saxmundham, Ipswich, with 47K miles on..
Only issues known about at the time of buyimg were tatty wheels and dodgy steering wheel.
However after a 4 hour train ride to collect it I spotted the drivers door seal damaged by the seat belt, appalling steering/ tracking, broken front towing eye cover (noy missing - smashed), and the odd light scratch and ding. on the plus in Feb this year the front lower arms and rear upper joints had been done.
Coming home 200 miles it averaged 25mpg which I was little disapointed with
3 days later the it went in for 4 wheel alignment with Front -12 deg toe and -5 deg steer ahead and came out wityh Front 10 deg toe and 0 deg steer ahead.
later that week I spotted a dirty real wheel which was redhot - fixed with a new caliper and new pads both sides. now I am getting 31MPG on my commute.
it had a new bonnet catch which was not adjusted so the bonnet was moving a little - fixed that
Then this week I have soaking wet carpet - so today I used the info on the forum to remove the pipe and clear it with my bike pump and flushing. - thanks
I also have a Gold td5 which I am thinking about selling now...

Careful if those mpg figs are from the trip comp, that over-reads by typically 3 - 5mpg. It's not called the lie-o'meter for nothing. Only reliable measure is brim to brim measure & calculation.

If you don't mind me asking.....where did you get the rear caliper from ? I reckon mine could be causing poor mpg. (24.6)......but discs/ drums warm......not getting red hot by any means.D3 owned from new, P017 brake recall, BAS FBHIC, new FBH, LR013487 oil pump, new water pump. RRS front lower suspension arms. New suspension compressor/ relay. New Denso alternator. CuNifer rear brake pipes. New GKN rear propshaft. New HPFP belt & tensioner. New A/C Condenser.NO WARRANTY for many many years.

Agreed - I will do a brim to brim eventually - I used to do that on my 1st TD5 - (because it had no trip computer) and I used to get 33mpg on General Grabbers - so yes I am one of those people that is not worried about the new 60 mph national speed limit, as I dont go over 60!
In fact I dont like the cruise control "Resume" on my TDV6 - its too fast!
And the good news is my old TD5 (W394OAS) sold June 2015 on 129K and it was on 137K last august and is still taxed and MOTed. I am particulalry proud of its last mot advisory:
Nearside Rear Body has slight corrosion (historic welding to rear chassis advise these items) (6.1.B.2)
Thats advising the owners of what good job I did!!!

Look how bad the tracking was when I brought it - I cant believe anyone would drive a car that bad.
Mind you I had the same done to my TD5 (after I did the ball joints) - and when I went to test drive a 2011 D4 from XC cars Faringdon it drove so bad (worn out arms ect) that i couldnt wait to get back into my "point and shot" TD5
Remember 2 or 3 weeks the government trying bury thier emmissions policy paper and went to court at 7.30 pm om a friday to get it blocked. trying to use PURDAH Rules
