'59-plate D4 TDV6 Auto stalling shortly after starting |
|
I'm finding, and particularly during this colder weather, that my D4 TDV6 HSE is stalling, sometimes, shortly after starting the engine from cold and pulling away.
My drive at home is on a slight slope. I start the engine, and as I reverse slowly (mostly under tickover) down the drive, it will quite often stall. This happened a few times back in Feb/Mar 2011, shortly after I'd had a whole new engine installed (see my other thread for that!), but then the issue went away and hasn't really bothered me since (only the occasional occurence).
However, these last 2-3 weeks, it is probably stalling 1 in 3 times I reverse off my drive. Is this a weather related issue (i.e. the engine is cold, and the air temperature is close to freezing?).
It doens't just happen when reversing on a slope. Last night I started the engine in my office car park and pulled award (going forwards), drove for about a minute and then paused at some traffic lights. As I went to pull away, the engine stalled.
Any ideas? Known fault? Just a symptom of a 3.0 litre diesel engine when its cold? (really!!!???)
I'm not mechanic, so any advice appreciated.
For the record, the car has done 53,000 miles, and the engine was replaced at 14,000 by Land Rover. 747_JK

I would be taking it back to LR for them to fix, is it still under warranty?

Yes it is. I will need to service it in a few weeks, so will get them to look at it then. And if the frequency increases or gets worse in the meantime, it can go in sooner...! Thanks for your help. 747_JK

The same for me after having a rebuilt engine.
Could it be something with ABS?
No fault codes.
Anyone with ideas.
