55w LR" Wimp " Lamps

To all it may concern, fitted Abar and LR driving
lamps,Looked good, only problem was,was the
light from the lamps P Censored ss poor the
head lamps on dipped beam were better.
So what did I do, put 130w bulbs in out off a
proper pair of spot lamps, went out to try them
they were on for no longer than 2 mins,Guess
what happened the Fu Censored ers melted
the shiny lens Big Cry so now she has the spots
that the bulbs came out of,Dogs Thingy's now.

SO DONT FIT 130w BULBS IN LR DRIVING LAMPS

They will set on fire Be WARNED Thumbs Up

Now there's a thing! Who wouldv'e thought that would happen? Whistle

Not funny, I know, but we all make mistakes.

I attached a couple of 'replacement' gas struts to the boot lid on my Classic Range Rover - shut the top lid down and fired one of the struts straight through the front windscreen - then noticed the little wire clips I should have inserted in the ball joint to keep the ball in the socket Rolling with laughter

I was only thankfull that the kids weren't sitting in the car a the time. I had no glass insurance either...

Hi,

The reason I put the post up was because I had read
that other members were thinking about upping the
wattage on the driving lamps, I can only comment on
the damage it did to mine.
But even with the 130w bulbs in for the short length of
time they were on, the beam wasn't a pencil beam it was
more like a flood light. not very good, I think if you
changed them to 100w you would be disappointed.
My opinion they are Crap for what they cost, I think they
are greenp Censored ss lamps anti dazzle Whistle

Who was it that said Let There Be Light ? It wasn't LR Rolling with laughter

I agree that the LR spotlights appear to have been designed by the prince of darkness.

Instead of going all out and buying Lightforce, I will first try installing the Philips CrystalVision bulbs. I think they are meant to use about 55W, but put out as much light as 110W bulbs. My brother got a set on his auto and loves them.

Cheers,
Rob

Must admit, I only got them for the looks, as the Bi-Xenons are great Very Happy , but it would be nice if they did actually produce some light that you can tell they are on Rolling Eyes

Crystal Vision lamps seem to have great press, however, I can't seem to find them - have Phillips got a new range?
http://www.lighting.philips.com/in_en/cons...mp;lang=en
If so, I wonder what the equivalent to the Crystal Vision ones are?

I have fitted a set of Lightforce Striker 170's and have found them disapointing. I have the adaptive lights, the bi-xeon's are so white and and light well down the road std. I am going to trade them (lightforce) back for a pair of xeon driving lights as the yellowish light from the Strikers washes out the white light and you end up with a mushie puddle of light.
The Lightforce striker 170 can not be upgraded and the 240 XGT is too big for the space in the front bar. So its back to the drawing board for a lightweight xeon driving light.
My off road reseller has told me about a close dare I say copy to Lightforce called I think Roo Light they do 180 size in a xeon so I will follow up that lead.

Me too! has TFC sorted a better deal out on these lamps? Me thinks 240 HID if the price is right! Come on down TFC or should that be up? Should be good for at least a mile over the open moors! Never go above 60mph in the FOG Rolling Eyes
