hi paul
i was only reading robbies excellent guide to glow plug testing the other evening
funny enough on mine the drivers side passenger door on occasion won’t open, think it’s needs a new actuator
also just bought myself a CTEK 8.0 , daft question, can u set all the alarm with it connected please
didn’t realise at first u can leave the battery connected without damage to the alternator
still got a few bits to do on mine , first job when it warms up will be to get the split charge in
hope u get it resolved

No problems leaving the charger connected all the time, I regularly leave mine plugged in, made up an adapter so i can just plug it in one of the towing sockets...
Yeah you'll need a new actuator, i have found trying to fix them is a waste of time, not a difficult job, just fiddly...

Really need to get some jobs ticked off the list after doing not much with the car at all last year, so just had a bit of a spend up...
Service Kit - Will give me just under 10k Miles to the biggie 105K
New Boot Gas Rams
New Main Battery
FBH Gasket Kit for Rebuild/Clean
Sunroof Drain Tubes
Ashtray Slider
Other bits that i think will needs/wants for this year:
DeTango and DRL's
I think the front ARB bushes are on the way out
Sounds like a wheel bearing is going again, damn cheap parts, 100% genuine next time...
Fog Lights Replaced (Both Cracked, will fit DRL's at the same time)
Possibly a 32" Grill mounted lightbar for a nice wide spread, i spend a fair amount of time off road at night...
Glowplugs
And then of course anything else that breaks, falls off, or stops working... lol
What else have i done to it recently...
Altox SMS FBH Remote Controller to fire up my (non working) FBH
Yet another new windscreen
Brodit iPod holder
Fixed towbar (which will be removed for an off road event or 2 soon)

Another little update...
Still not got round to doing the service...
New boot gas rams fitted, now need to mind my head when it opens, have highlighted a need for me to grease it up...
New battery fitted, no more cold starting problems...
FBH was rebuilt, still no joy, so now replaced with a second hand unit, have managed to get it to fire up and run using webasto software, but otherwise wont start, CO2 adjustment on the list next time i have time...
Sunroof drains i have but havn't had time to do...
Ashtray bits i have, but havnt had time to do...
I've got a 32" lightbar which i have modified to fit in the front grill, just need to fettle it some more and get it fitted the way i want...
I have parts in hand to detango and DRL the headlights, just havnt had time...
But i have got another job ticked off the list... Foglights, turns out one was cracked, the other one was full of water but ok, grabbed a second hand one to replace the cracked one...
Disassembled them both, cleaned inside and out, fine bead of silicone round the lenses, fine bead of silicone round the rubber seals where they join the reflector, these were then greased where they meet the foglight body so hopefully there is a good seal there now too, DRL Halo LED rings fixed in to the foglights and LED bulbs, they are still sat on my desk but the transformation is great and for very little cost! If the weather plays nice tomorrow they are only a few screws to put back in, the DRL wiring can wait until all the others are done...

Havnt added an update here in i dunno how long...
I did detango and Halo the headlights and also get the service done...
Even though i have competed in it once before, i put it through a TYRO trial this weekend, scored well, lost out on a couple due to the damn huge wing mirrors and only got stuck once, but it was great fun, i think the bug has bitten and am now wondering how long my D3 ownership will last, or will i go for an economical run about and a dedicated off road vehicle...
But still, heres some pics of a D3 covered in mud.... lol
