In one sense it’s splitting hairs as Jaguar was owned by Ford at the time and AFAIK the manufacturing facility in Europe was a Ford plant even if it was under the Jaguar name.

The internet claims Ford Thunderbird and Lincoln LS although 3.9 liter ones part of the AJ family, not the 4.4 liter one. Those were also manufactured in USA.

Bless u for the info
Also see in the FFRR the BMW M62 V8 was fitted , then the Ford/ jag 4.4 was between 2005-2009
So if I’ve also read it right the engine that’s fitted in the D3 is the AJ8
Many thks as always

Like you Gary I have an itch for a V8, we don’t do many miles,so I’m not worried about fuel consumption, I can only imagine how good it would sound. Regards.

If my memory is correct, the AJV8 engine was around long before Ford took over JLR

Yeah the full fat range rovers tended to have bmw engines in the early days. 2000?
The AJv8 was in production in 1996.
Probably funded by ford but all jaguar engineering development.
I doubt they sound like a v8 unless you modify the exhaust.
The RRS 4.2 supercharged appears the wise choice

Although it burns the spawn of the Devil. I do like the SDV8 a lot.
For petrol V8’s, I’ve always preferred old school US V8’s. Preferable Chevy.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Indeed do very low miles, I don’t think I would ever do more than 2,000 miles in a year
Plus wish to get one without LPG , don’t think it would be worth the extra hassle
Would u say there a good engine , any weak points to watch out for please, ie camshaft tensioners etc
Had mine 4 x years now and to be honest just need brake hoses and will then in theory be onto basic servicing , so maybe trade it in or sell it privately , just coming up to 100,000 miles
Also will have to work out what I can get for mine
Wouldn’t bother me if it took me a year to find a decent one but always wanted a V8 , at least I know what to look for apart from the engine, also will give me time to learn a lot more
Also good that I see there only available as an auto,
Please don’t throw anything at me for the following daft question , seeing I’m so good at them , but can’t see any ign leads , assume there hidden
Found these interesting

Engines are better than the diesels.
But you have done so much and spent so much you would be mad to sell it.
They have 8 coils. Coil directly onto the spark plug

Thks Pete
Didn’t realise that ref the individual coils
Indeed ,wouldn’t ever do anything on impulse
Funny enough I had to replace the battery today as the old one decided to go flat , again , went to halfords , seemed to drive better after the battery was replaced but think that was just me
gave it a 50 x mile run, along with the usual italian tune up
it drove like a dream, planted my foot and was expecting the limp mode to come up because it had been sitting for a while , but it just took off like a scolded cat , then took slowed down had that permagrin on my face because it drove so nice , smooth , quiet
At least at the end of the day I don’t have to rush Into any decision
Never know a 4.4 might turn up that needs work and is dirt cheap, driveway has room for another Disco
