4 Wheel Alignment

Went & had the wheel alignment checked today as I had been concernerd that the tyres didn't seem to be wearing correctly. I found a company on the web pretty close called Nottingham Alignment services.

They had a great bit of Kit .. one of these ....
http://www.pro-align.co.uk/products/wheela...series.htm

The site also has a link to here http://www.alignmycar.co.uk/ wher you can find the nearest centre with Pro Align kit.

The kit produces a rather detailed readout .... cant say i understand much but some of you more technical sorts may understand it better.

....trying to get image in here...how do I do that??

ah ha..read Martins instructions!!
The technician Joe certainly seemed to know his stuff. He had a bit of a fight with the front left to try & get the camber within range but 1:19 was the best he could get so left it at that, still far better than it was.
The best part of the job....£55 inc VAT. Thumbs Up
So....anyone in Notts who is having wear issues.....off ya go!![/b]
 Cheers Ian

Matt,
Just out of interest what did they charge you. Am fairly local to Scunny and it would be nice to stick the info in the old memory bank for the future. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

For anyone down south, I have used Elite Direct in Rainham, Essex a couple of times they use the same alignment system

Cost last time was £35 (early 2008).

How long did it take them to do this and did you need to book the vehicle in.

I work about 10 mins up the road from there and I am seeing some wear on the inside edges of the front tyres so I guess it's time to pop in there.

Anyone got any good recommendations for the Swindon / M4 area, along with the likely cost? I think I could do with getting mine done! Thumbs Up

Nice! 8)

I'll take a look now and see what it says. It would be good to get somewhere recommended if possible too though.

Cheers!

Had my alignment done by Merityres in Woking using a similar computerised set up, £65 with a before and after printout showing front and rear readings. Good professional service, recommended.

Recently had mine done at a dealers (twice) the first time the suspension was not 'locked' so was not set properly. Not sure if that was waffle or a part of the process.

It's interesting as I have the same issue with my front left, just outside LR spec but runs fine after I changed my tyres around. D3's are very sensitive to variances in tread depth/pressures across the same axle.

I paid £164 for my alignment Rolling Eyes I always learn things the hard way.

I really don't see how the job can be done properly for such a little amount (vehicle in tight tolerance mode with ids), rear wheels off to loosen upper camber bolts (which are usually siezed), then test driven to settle suspension back in, before check & adjust.
Just my opinion, but I really think you get what you pay for with alignment.

Regards
Steve

I know that was not done on mine from a dealer as the issues that presented themselves when I was handed back the car would have been realised by the technician.

Interestingly Stratstones in Nottingham charge their customers £95 for four wheel alignment, which they get done by this very company. Nice margin for paying a delivery driver for popping it across town and back. Big Cry
BTW They're not perfect as the first time they did mine they got the steering so far out of alignment that the steering sensor and the wheel speed sensor got confused with each other and lowered the suspension every ten miles on the motorway. I had to drive from Nottingham to mid Wales in access mode. Evil or Very Mad
cheers
