4 wheel alighnment

Hi guys,

Im new here, just found this weebsite and its great!!

Anyway, the front two tyres on my disco3 bot have exceessive wear on the inside of each tyre. I think this is a tracking issue but phoned my dealer who said if it is due to tracking, they will not just track the front wheels as it will throw the other wheels out of alignment!! is this true??

They have quoted me 150.00 for a 4 wheel alighnment, is this exspensive?? and can any recommend a place other than my dealer to have this done??

also my car still has 2 months remaining on the warrantee, is the wheel alighnment covered by this warranteee

thanx in advannce

Probably will not be covered under warranty,

the dealer is probably the only people who can do this as if it has air suspension then the ride height has to be set in the correct mode using the diagnostic equipment to allow checks to be done,

not sure about the price though, Whistle

I was quoted £99 for this - dealer told me it was about 2-3 hours work but no-one in their right mind would pay that much so they "discounted" it back to £99.

Don't think Kwikfit or others can do it properly.

Hi,
For correct setting, the suspension has to be put into 'suspension geometry tight tolerance mode' with IDS

After which the correct camber & tracking can be done.

Steve ...i have an alignment problem ..all 4 wearing on inside edge .

I carry a lot of tools , so would they align it with the weight in the car , or align it without ?

Does it make a difference?

Id say it would if you do it all the time as the fuel tank is supposed to be full when its done so assume weight does matter.

Hi Wiggs,

The usual is unladen, but with a full tank of fuel (or equivelent weight evening distributed).

if you stand at the rear, at what angle are the wheels, vertical, or badly negative camber (leaning in at the top)?

Steve

Steve ,

Wheels are deffinatly leaning inwards at the top , more noticable on the rears than the front.

Doen't seem to make much difference what ever height i select.

I have my off road tyres on at the moment and i can feel a deffinate wear on the inside edge ..feels quite "jaggedy"

Was noticed by the dealer last service , but they said it wasent a warranty job and they wouldn't do it untill i changed the tyres.

I have been waiting for some TPMS valve's to arrive , so havent bothered swapping over to my new tyres yet...but in the last 5000 miles or so ( 2 months ) there is a deffinate wear on all 4 tyres on inside edge

assuming bushes are OK, sounds like a camber adjustment, then tracking is needed.

I had the same problem, mind you it was only 18 months old - allignment done under warrenty and all four tyres replaced (approx 22,oo miles) for the price of 2! So this ought to be covered by warranty as it was a very well known issue!!!! I'd give them a try.
Hope that helps
