3 year service, main dealer or LR specialist?
My D4 needs it's 3 year service and I'm wondering if it's worth paying the main dealer price or going to a Landrover specialist (such as Powerrange 4x4 in North Wales). I've got an extended warranty (the LR one) but does that mean I have to use a main dealer? Any other thoughts?

If you know of a good specialist, then I'd personally use them (I do!). So long as they adhere to the servicing schedule and use good quality parts (possibly genuine as mine does), then there's no reason not to. The extended warranty is a third party insurance anyway, and in my experience, if there is a problem the specialist I use has far more success with a claim than the useless Main Stealer nearest to me!

I use an independent, Land Marque,345/347 London Road, Hadleigh Essex.(01702 559911 ) They are absolutley excellent. Had Disco3 serviced last month for more than £100 less than main LR Dealer, and on collection was told that front lower ball joints were worn, both sides, and as I have LR extended warranty, they had contacted LR, aggreed and approved the cost, two lower wishbones were on order for next day delivery, and when would I like to fetch it in, all paid for by LR.
Brilliant service and nice people to deal with.

£444.81 from main dealer
£216 from LR specialist.
Both include vat and courtesy car if required.
And for Major service (2 and 4 year) they quoted £622.44 and £336. I think the extra includes air and fuel filter.
Is your vehicle still in warranty or out...?
If its still in I would use the main dealer & get all the tasks done BEFORE its warranty lapses
Are you going to extend or take out a 3rd party warranty.?...either provider may askmthat main dealer servicing is done.
OK LR specialists should be lower cost as they dont have the overheads that dealers do...but are you sure the work is being done properly by a mechanic who has the knowledge & experience...& kep your vehicle inthe condition you would hope its in.
I used to use an independant Volvo mechanic in Portadown N.Ireland who was one of the best, resourcefull Motor Engineers not mechanics I have ever met...the fact that Volve let him set up himself is a travesty.
For my D3 I now take it to the main dealer in Belfast.....they have a vast amount of expertise & capability...they do masses of maintenence & repairs to Police - PSNI LandRovers.
Ok they may cost a bit more but I can be sure of the jobs done.
You only get what you pay forBREXIT - done properly.

Is anyone aware of an LR specialist in South West London? Used to use Curling Motors in Battersea and it doesn't appear to be in business anymore.
