If I, a near on 80 year old pensioner can do it anyone can, just be patient and anchor your tools with string, use a mirror on a wire rod. It may seem impossible but it isn't.
Hardest part is refitting the viscous fan Shocked , now that is a job that could have been made easier with a little thought. Took me about half an hour to get the threads started.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I guess you mean timing belt change since you mention fan.
I'm in the other end..high pressure pump belt.

I remember that fan thread too.. Sad

Hi all,
I have now changed belt for pump but got 2 error codes which makes it impossible to start and it is missing signal.
Maybe Im crazy but recall I tied up a contact housing on ac pipes but cant find male or female housing. The wire was comming from rear engine and was going over cover.
Anyone out there with a LHD 2011 3,0 sd which can take a look?
Or maybe I recall it wrong and is loosing my mind...

United Kingdom

LR Main dealer stated on my invoice that both front and rear belts had all been done under the 3+ scheme on my D4.
2 days later the HPFP belt/tensioner went and the dealer had it back for the next 10 days while they took the body off to do it. Claimed it was a manufacturing defect in one of the bolts that had sheared.

Rang another main dealer who confirmed that for the £675 charged for belt changes under the 3+ scheme that they didnt change the rear HPFP belt as it wasnt critical if it failed.

So the first dealer hedged their bets and lost out big time.

Thanks M3DPO,
I have now realized that I must have dreamt that there was a contact housing and have checked signal cable from battery + and small cable showed 0 ohms so that was ok...now I´m looking in to earth points in wheel house and have greased them up. Has also put copper paste on output connection on generator and next is small contact housing and how to release it without breaking it.
A new generator will be ordered but doubt that is the main problem.

If that dont work,I will pull it out from garage and make hen house of it!

I checked fuse box and no fuse 20,5A for alternator? I have not removed any fuse. Is alternator secured by another fuse?
