You can knock anything from 2 - 5mpg off that for reality.
I've only had mine a few weeks and like other cars before I track fuel use on Fuelly - over 533 miles the D3 has averaged 20.4 MPG which is most disappointing as that is worse the my TD5 towing a large caravan....... Pete

200Tdi - is your torque converter locking correctly? A faulty torque converter make a huge difference to mpg
Mine wasn’t locking correctly & then I also started to get slip/hunting - that gave low 20’s but with it sorted I am back to 28-30

Take no notice of the lieometer. My 07 SE auto does 22.5mpg knocking around the lanes of Cornwall covered in mud and just about 30mpg on a long run averaging 70 to 80mph. Lieometer reads 33mpg plus.
Still, I didn't buy my D3 to save the planet.
It does have a basic Alive Tuning remap, so it is definately smoother with a bit more oomph, but no improvement to mpg. 2007 Disco3 2.7 tdv6 SE
gvif with reversing camera
V8 brakes with new EPB module and shoes
Later D4 grille
Alive tuning remap
Mazda MX5
Ferguson ted20 tractor
Hyundai Getz 1.4 (wife's )

well..................... I don't really know, in my TD5 it locks only in 3rd and 4th after 52mph (only when engine at operating temp) and it's really obvious when it locks - the D3 I really don't know, with it having so many gears and I've only done 522 miles since getting it........ How can I test, when should it lock?Pete

I regularly see low 30's mpg but can vary either way depending on traffic.... I've seen high 30's but only on long motorway runs.
SP Mods so far:
New wheel winch
Instrument upgrade (clock on dash)
D4 fascia + Garmin nuvi
LED side light, interior etc
New FL2 rear wheel arch seals
Parrot MKi9200 hands free kit

My lie-ometer is 10% optimistic.
So on a long run it will read 35 - 36, which is 31.5 - 32.5 measured brim to brim.
Long term average over 70,000 ish miles is 24.9, most of which is towing trailers varying between 1.5 and 2.5tons.
The TD5 I ran before gave 25.9 over the same usage patternNew gearbox & TC, 3 x front wheel bearings, belts changed, new oil pump, new battery, new rear prop, new front prop, new front diff, front arb refurbed, front cv boot kit, egr blank and BAS software patch, full rear suspension / drivelive rebuild, new front arms, LED trailer light fix, split charge.
Never had a 107, 90 or 127, but have had most of the rest!

200Tdi - using phone so quote is a pain!
It locks in 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 or at least it should
Have a play on an open road & watch the revs - it should be nothing like your old D2
