275/55/20 tyres
Just been offered a set of lightly used ones from a D5 in the above size... (275/55/20)
Has anyone tried these on a D3? they come out at 31.9" which seems enormous compared to the 275/45/20 that I ran on my D4 (29.9")...

Like yourself, I got offered a set that had been removed from a D5 for a price I couldn't refuse..
I previously ran 275/45s with 30mm spacers, but when I fitted the 55's they rubbed badly with the spacers fitted, so I tried without and now they clear (just )
I've not managed to get them to rub at all in everyday use, but not tried any serious off road yet.
I think it's also possible that different tyre brands may also differ slightly (Mine are BFG's)

That's an inch more sidewall and 0.8" more width than the oe 255-50-20 tyre size:
I'm surprised they don't make contact somewhere on full lock.
