22" wheel tyre size ?

I am going to fit 22" alloy wheels to my D4 I am undecided what size of tyres to fit 285-35-22 I believe is the most common size but I am contemplating either 275-40-22 or 285-40-22.....has anyone run either of those combinations and can offer any advice on what size I should go for

I Have 285 35 22 fitted, they work fine for the road.

Just make sure the tyre weight rating is correct. Your insurers might not be happy, so I'd check with them first. Thumbs Up

22 inch tyre choice

Suggest 285/40/22 I have them fitted to both my D3 and my L322 RR
The 40 series profile gives better ride characteristics and is closer ratio to standard wheels and tyres than the 285/ 35 profile
the 40 profile also protect the alloys from cracking if you hit a large pot hole
Thumbs Up

Went for Calibre Altus 10x22 et40 fitted with 285 40 22 absolutely fantastic, ride quality is as good if not better than standard and no issues with rubbing.

Absorbs bumps a little better and maybe a little more smooth too. But the main point here is every bit as good as the standard wheel/tyre combination.

I've found that the deeper side wall of a smaller radius tyre gives a better ride.

I'm on 255/55 R19 - suits me.
