20inch all round but 19inch spare
I realise this would not be ideal, but any particular reason why I couldn't run a 19inch wheel to get me out of a predicament in an emergency?
I would be running the standard tyre sizes for both 20 and 19, so I'm thinking there shouldn't be an issue there. Got to be better than a space saver - that's my thinking.MY2012 D4 HSE Nara Bronze with some extra stuff

It would depend if same rolling circumference, there are sites that let you compare one with t’other.

the (Lim slip?) differentials will be overheating very quick if the circumference of one of the tyres are very different..
rim size in itself is not important, circumference of the tyre is IMHO.. so have that within very very narrow limits, not a big issue for limited use
if bigger difference...
i one mile on a greenlane dangerous? i tempt te believe not... 10mls? or 20? but then another 20 or more getting home on a sunday, and on monday another few miles to the tyre fitter?
hmm i would not take the risk, but that is me..Best regards
Harold

Provided that they are 255/50/20 & 255/55/19 then they are standard size with same rolling radius so the 19" will be fine to use as spare.Stu

My FFRR Supercharged has 20 inch 255/50/R20 but I have 19 inch 255/55/R19 as a spare.
It is compatible but I would only use as a get-out-of-jail-for-free card.
The overall diameter is the same BUT there are slight differences2008 D3 HSE Stornoway Grey (UK)

I doubt the diff or electronics would even notice.

IMHO would be fine until the punctured 20 is either fixed or replaced. OK one has a slightly bigger side wall so a bit more flex but I doubt that the car could get to conditions where that would make a difference.

Yes, that is what I meant by standard tyre sizes, so that the rolling circumference would be the same/very similar. As I said, if I used the space saver, it would be the same situation in my view.MY2012 D4 HSE Nara Bronze with some extra stuff

Yes space saver would be the same and that was specified by LR
Many on here have done what you are planning on doing, I have, but thankfully never had to use it. Would only use it to get me somewhere to get the other repaired or replaced so not a long distanceMY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

About 14 years ago, after blowing two tyres in 100 yards on a nasty flint laden lane, I ran for about 10 miles on 2 x 18s, a 19 and a space saver to get back home...no lasting issues 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

You must always make sure that tyres on the same axle are of the same size and aspect ratio, your car would fail an MOT test if they’re not but the law makes an exception for temporary use spare wheels fitted in an emergency.

Hi,
just to give an alternative view
I used to run a full size spare, but with the same type of tyre as I was running on the car
so if I did get a puncture, it could be fixed "at my leisure" and put back in the boot, again at leisure could decide where it was going to go back on the car or it may stay in the boot till next time
IF
you are only going to use it as an emergency get you to the next tyre garage,
then why not just stick with a space saver you can still legally tow on them and stuff.
if you have a full size 19" already then fair enough.

Loads of people run about for months/hundreds of miles on space savers at well above the recommended max speed limits for them with no adverse affects on the vehicle other than wearing out the tyre! It comes from running a car on a shoestring budget or not realising /caring that the spacesaver is only really meant to get you to the nearest tyre services to have your punctured tyre repaired!

Yes but they are generally only 2 wheel drive....
Going back to the op, I can’t see a problem if used as a spare.
