2016 LR4 Discovery Landmark with adaptive xenon headlights
Hello
I have searched and searched but can’t find the correct answer to my question
Sorry if this has been asked before or is a stupid question
2016 LR4 Discover Landmark with adaptive xenon headlights with corning lights and DRL which I think the lights are on the dim side when driving (country roads) compared to my defender 90 with full LED 7” lights fitted
Can the LR4 with the above description of the lights be upgraded replacing bulbs or whatever is in the lamps?
I might fit the Lazer triple R750 gen2 set of spots in the grill, but want to check first if the original lamps can be upgraded
Cheers IvanBig Ives

Good question
I have upgraded the fog lamps to LED and fitted relay for the fog lamps to come on with full beam, definitely an improvement but still not as good as the D3 it isn’t brightness that is a problem it is long range, there doesn’t seem to be a spot lamp or reflector available to replace the fog lamps. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Have you tried looking on a site like www.powerbulbs.com ? select your model and year and headlight type (HID I would think for yours) and it gives options for both headlight and foglight upgrades... then look for the same bulbs cheaper elsewhere I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

…. and knowing my luck, I’d drop & break one upon installation.
edited to add correct bulb detail for my D4 [bi -xenon]...... always on the road less travelled 🚧
< ‘tis but a mere scratch …….. it’ll polish out.

I fitted osram nightbreaker laser bulbs which made a difference, then i added a Lazer linear which turned night into day on full beam.
Given the same problem again, i would go for a Lazer linear with low beam assist…
I could not get rid of the hole which was dead centre on dipped beam, i tried everything…

I agree the issue is the distance that is lit up. I've noticed it on my MY16 D4. I believe that aspect of headlight performance is known as 'Throw' which might assist looking for a solution . Not found one yet, so very interested in what people find.
Happy New Year

Any ideas on how you can tell what type of headlights are fitted, please?
Mine is a 2015 65 plate HSEJust 'cause you got the power... that don't mean you got the right.

I was also quite dismayed by the pitiful Xenon lights on my D4. Dipped beam is especially poor.
I fitted an LED lightbar (a Stedi ST1K) behind the grille and this provides an excellent far reaching beam. Before I found the lightbar, I tried to replace the bulbs but these made no worthwhile difference.D1 300Tdi - gone
D2 Td5 ES (Alive remapped...mmm) - sadly gone

There is normally a white sticker on the headlight that gives a part number and an abbreviated description of the headlight type / functions. You can see it on the top of the headlight once you open the bonnet
