Yes, you're right. It's not AdBlue that's the legal requirement, it's meeting Euro 6 that is. Not sure if it's feasable to meet it without it though Question

Hi Pete can you just clarify that please? I've got an Discovery 4 MY16 on order and understand from the dealer it DOES require Ad Blue? I thought that was the reason I can't have Rear Climate?

It's really just the media catching up. I recall reading articles in New Scientist in the late '80s and early '90s in which the surprising impact of air pollution on health was exposed. Just to clarify, yes all derivatives of the 16MY Discovery will require AdBlue. The current 15 MY does not have this system.

Hope that clears up any confusion.

Which petrol versions?
 Volvo XC60 - does all that the D4 should have done
Discovery HSE MY16 (good apart from the heating), now sold
Audi TT Roadster (wow)
MGB Roadster (owned since 1992)
Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE MY08
Saab 9-5 Aero 2002 (gone but not forgotten)

As many people like to retrofit newer tech onto older cars (paddles. ediffs..hud)

maybe a whole aftermarket business awaits someone retrofitting onto older cars

just like the catalytic converter...or DPF,EGR retrofit booming industry. Laughing

A lot of greenies banging their wellies but, any greenies willing to spend money to be green?

surely it would only cost a few thousand quid to fit to your current discovery.( I see a merc sprinter def pump for $535 on the bay) along with tank ($1637) injector(150 quid)and a bit of hose, filler cap ($28)and someone to upgrade the electronics you could do it for almost (meaning more ) than £2000.

cant wait for the first write up. Thumbs Up

has anyone calculated the footprint of the pump/tank manufacture, storage, transport, forecourt dispensers and the industries behind the adblue manufacture and creation of a whole new industry employees travel to work etc
for only halfing nox.

not a real fix in my book. bring on VCR

Hi All,

So for clarity, the UK market will not offer a Petrol derivative of the Discovery at this time.

* For the standard 16MY diesel derivatives of the Discovery, they will require AdBlue.

* For markets outside of the UK that offer a Petrol derivative, these will not require AdBlue.

* The Discovery Commercial 16MY will not require AdBlue

Robbie is correct in that the commercial 16MY Discovery will not require this, as it falls into the N1 Commercial vehicles category and they are unaffected by the EU6b legislation change in September 2015.

Hi Klinkhammer,

This would be dependant on your usage. The AdBlue tank is approximately 17 litres, with the estimated consumption at 1000 miles per 1 litre. Please note this is a guideline and there are a lot of factors that influence the consumption such as Driving style, vehicle load, and engine size.

In general this will mean that it will only need to be topped up during routine annual services, as the service schedule for the Discovery 16MY diesel is 1 year / 16,000 miles (whichever occurs first).

However the vehicle will feature a warning light to advise if the AdBlue level is low.

Re carbon footprint of all this emissions-control stuff: NOx and PM2.5s are acute, local, health issues. They cause disease and kill people. Climate change is a subtle, chronic, global issue. The cost of doing things the dirty, polluting way is being increased deliberately, as this makes cleaner technologies competitive. Mr. Green
