OK - thanks - now been directed to the DEF thread - I'm new to this forum and am still wading through it all. It was so much easier on the LandCruiser forum .... they don't have the LR issues?... they are simple?uncomplicated cars ..... there aren't many units in the UK?2016MY Discovery HSE - Black

Bear in mind that people are talking about the reliability of Land Rover's new Euro 6 emmissions control system before anyone has driven one and that Toyota will almost certainly be in exactly the same situation (having to use AdBlue) for Euro 6 compliance. Much of what's been said here is generic conversation about AdBlue systems that could apply equally well to either car.2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

I take it this is not on the Range Rovers with same engines just weight issue?...So when new D5 is out which would be a lot lighter so would not be required to meet emissions?

Considering that the new, much lighter weight, Jaguar XE, with the more modern Ingenium engine, is running AdBlue to meet Euro 6 regulations, I think it's safe to assume that all new Range Rovers will need it too.2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Hi fat bloke
Thank you for your post.
The engines in the Discovery 4 do not require Ad Blue.

Surely Pete is aware that md 16 Disco 4 do have AdBlue 17 ltr tank if it's to meet new emissions against weight then surely new Range Rover and fore coming D5 with less weight and different engines and for once again a choice we might have of a PETROL engine in the UK.
As BMW/AUDI do give petrol options.

With light diesel cars also requiring AdBlue to comply with Euro 6, would you explain what effect weight has on LR's? Or have I misunderstood you?

Well I am sure Pete is aware now….
Owners in the Channel Islands have been crying out for petrol D4s since the introduction of the DPF diesels. You simply cannot achieve a DPF cycle on the islands so most manufacturers have stopped selling them and offer alternatives. Regrettably JLR has yet to follow suit.
The unexpected demonising of diesel over the last year or so has caught a number of manufacturers off-guard.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

It's a shame when it seems that much of the demonising seems to be purely the media whipping up a, newspaper selling, frenzy! Bad news is usually good for business 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Hi Pete can you just clarify that please? I've got an Discovery 4 MY16 on order and understand from the dealer it DOES require Ad Blue? I thought that was the reason I can't have Rear Climate?MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten

A whole thread with all the details of the AdBlue fitment (and the legal necessity for it to be fitted to all cars registered from 1/9/15) to MY16 cars and we're still asking LR if it's fitted to MY16 cars? I think I'll log off and take the dog for a walk! 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

My understanding of the adblue situation is that if the engine meets the required emissions levels without the use of adblue, then it is not a legal requirement.
