2014 8 speed shift lock fault.

Hi folks, my shift lock has stopped working and I need to know if it’s the solenoid or PCB. Is there anyone in the North Shropshire/ South Staffordshire area that has the diagnostic tool who would be prepared to let me visit them and get the fault codes read please? It would be most appreciated. Thanks Paul.
P.S. I live near Newport TF10 area.

By “shift lock” DP you mean rotary switch?
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Yes, the locking part of the rotary selector that is operated by a solenoid, that prevents rotation unless you have the brake depressed. I have had to disable the function temporarily. I don’t think that the soienoid is available as a replacement part or could easily be repaired, which means a new complete selector switch/module. £300-500 ish cost. If it’s the PCB there are several places that do a refurb for the lower price. Or possibly a used working one but difficult to know if it’s any good on purchase. Thanks.

The rotary switch is known to fail, I too had to disabled the lock part to keep mobile, I got one off eBay for about £25 but it was about 5 years ago, apparently it’s a transistor in the switch that fails.

My gear selector failed recently on my Discovery 4 so I sent it off to ECU Testing. Great company that was easy to use and professional. Turn around was about a week and it comes with a lifetime warranty. Was £320 all in. Much cheaper than a new one and with a great guarantee.

Thanks for the help so far.
jackvoyager posted on the 21st November 2022 11.48 that he had replaced 2 100 ohm resistors on the PCB for a couple of quid and this had fixed it. I am going down that route first by approaching a local electronics expert to do the job and see what happens. Thanks again to everyone including Jack.
