Morning,
The battery on our 2010 D4 (non stop-start) is past its best. We use the car for lots of short journeys which probably hasn't helped with its demise. I'm going to pop it on the battery charger to see if I can give it a bit more life, but I was wondering about the replacement
You can get these AGM Absorbent Glass Matt batteries which are for start stop vehicles, and which have a bit more juice in them. Has anyone fitted these to a non stop-start car and have they found it worthwhile - longer life, better if you use the car for shorter journeys etc.

I like to use the FBH to pre warm the car in the mornings and if the car isn't run afterwards, all this does is discharge the battery so I'm thinking the higher CCA and Ah the better.

Land Rover replaced my (MY2011 non Stop-Start) battery with an AGM battery. It lasted about 7-8 years and worked fine. Only thing to remember is if you get an AGM battery, use the AGM charging setting on your battery charger. D4 SDV6 HSE 11MY - Gone

Odyssey 1700T as the start battery in My D3 - largely because it lived in my d2 before and was too good to reside in that when the D3 came along
Needed a little modification to some of the casing ribs that support the carry handle but i doubt there's much it wouldn't start and it copes very well with infrequent use.
Odysseys and optimas do need an occasional charge with a proper High current charger once a year to get the best out of them though - to be fair I think that can probably be said for most AGM batteries though 05 D3 V8 HSE, LR Passion tree bars, wildbear compressor guard, LRP switch panel, ARB rear locker + compressor, Trigger 6 shooter electrical system

I also replaced my D4 2011 (no start stop) with an AGM one (Varta Silver Dynamic G14) last month. I choose the AGM because of its lower internal resistance which reduce the self discharge and improve lifetime... JM

Thanks everyone. It doesn't appear that there's much downside to an AGM, and the cost is only really 60% more than a wet battery. I'm going to charge up the one we have (Bosch labelled 2017 so not that old) and get it through the winter months, and we'll see where we are in the spring.

Hi jmich, in my adolescent days in the late 90s I used to live in SHAPE, the NATO army base just outside Mons. I have fond memories of the area. Frites Mayo, Paprika chips and Frangipanes we enjoyed regularly.
We used to while away many days drinking Jupiler and playing darts with the locals in the bars around the camp. Fun times.

Go for an AGM.
I've just changed mine (2010 non stop/start) from a 'normal' lead acid to a Bosch S5A13 AGM.
We did some tests and what took 0.4 volts from the old battery, only took 0.1 from the new.
I got a good price as my son has an account with the company in question, but even without it, I think the initial extra cost will have been worth it 4 years down the road.

The problem with the Silver lead acid batteries is that once they’ve dropped below a certain level, they can never be brought back. It may be new on the shelf but if it’s dropped below that level, it’s scrap before you fit it. I wouldn’t bother trying to save one by trying to charge it, it will just fail you again, and Sod’s law dictates it will be at the worst time. 012MY RRS 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography (Current)
