2009 Disco GS - Am I getting ripped!! |
|
Hi Can anyone help me urgently. I am purchasing a 2009 Disco GS and the dealer was fitting IPOD connection dealer fit and Parrot 3100 lcd system. He called to say that there is only one Aux port to the stereo and that I will need to run my ipod through the parrot system. I smell a rat and think he is doing this not to install the IPOD connection and Aux port jack. Can anyone confirm if what he is saying is true or can you independently install the IPOD connection kit and a parrot to the stereo.
I appreciat eany speedy responses as picking it up end of week.

- Are you sure you need a parrot since some D3's have bleutooth as a standard?
- There is indeed 1 AUX. But I believe you should be able to run a Parrot and iPod together. Standard LR fits the iPod connection in the glove box. Part number VPLAE001. CLUB ILLEGAL CAR WASHERS

carlosm,
Not all D3's have Bluetooth!
I have a Parrot CK3100LCD and the iPOD cradle connected to our Basic 5-seater with basic Radio - what they need is the Parrot Wiring kit - there are two options, one for the basic and one for the hi-line spec radio,
The basic is the same as the Jaguar one - can't comment on the Hi-Line one as I've not fitted that.
Regards,
Matthias LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

I have no experience of the Parrot kit but I'd expect it to use a telemute cable to connect to the IHU and not need to use the aux port. If you're getting the ACM fitted for the ipod it doesn't plug into the aux port but adds connectivity (in the glove box) so can switch between aux and ipod The End

Having fitted a Parrot Ck3200 to mine, does your dealer/fitter know that they need the additional wiring/adaptor for the Parrot kit to fit into the rear of the Stereo. Its an adaptor, not more than £20 but plugs into the rear of the stereo, two types available, one for standard stereo, and one for a AMPLIFIER stereo.
By recalling its listed as a Jaguar lead set, easily sought by Parrot suppliers.
So not calling your Dealer a fibber, but I would fit the Parrot to the rear of the stereo, and ipod kit to the Aux Wiring in the passenger A Piller footwell, where most do it.
Forum member Methley has done a more complicated Parrot install, so easily can help you

Yep that's the one, I used the telemute cab;e straight into wiring loom and did not use the aux port. I have the hi line, which is a different kit to the base unit. It's easy to fit yourself, I took the power from the cigarette lighter as for some reason the loom doesn't take it from the radio.

So it sounds like I am getting ripped them. To recap i have basic GS with basic stereo so should be able connect the parrot to the stereo and then ACM to Aux port. Is that right?
Does the parrot system only connect to the stereo through the teleMute cable, it them connected to speakers separately?
thanks guys new to this and your help appreciated.

The telemute cable does it all, connections to speakers, mutes stereo (brings up "phone" on the stereo) etc.
I don't have an IPOD, but our aux port still works no problem.

Matthias, Do you play your IPOD through the Parrot or through and AUx jack? if you can confirm that would be great.

I thought the parrot 3100 was only mono, so it wouldn't sound too good. You can get a Mki9200 which does IPOD, guess that could be OK
