2005 SE - new person/owner.
Evening folks,
Been lurking for the last few months and have already learnt a lot from various threads on here. I recently bought a 2005 SE auto having wanted a disco for years - bought as a project/hobby/work vehicle in its various forms. I've spent a lot of time doing various bits to it already and the list keeps getting longer of wants/needs. Sadly it decided to start throwing turbo codes recently so I'm working my way through these hoping it won't cost me a new turbo - though I think it will sadly.
Few pictures below of the various bits I've done to what was a completely standard D3.
Cheers,
Nathan

I like the mods youโve done to the car Nathan, when they are working they are amazing vehicles but there is always something needs doing to them repair wise. Doesnโt sound good news re the turbo, can you get them reconditioned or replace it from a scrap vehicle? (Iโm not mechanically minded which is why Iโm asking).

Thanks. ๐
There's loads of threads on here about turbo issues that I've found. Most common seems to be replace with a recon unit the workshop keeps your old unit to recondition. Can also pick up new but that's a lot of ยฃยฃ - fitting is the worst bit as it's not an easy job & not something I fancy doing myself. ๐

So it's been a few months and she's getting there now. Ended up with a new turbo sadly which fixed all the woes. I then decided to rake a break from modifications and do some routine maintenance stuff - which in hindsight I should have done first. So after a full service, all the oil changed (apart from gearbox) and a few other bits I'm not back to spending more money.
I was glad I had decided to change oils as the transfer case/diffs looked like gravy when removed.
I also invested in a Gap to which has been a god send - and has allowed me to enable the 4x4 screen and various other bits - also meant I could sort the software when changing compressor.
Recent things have included a new compressor as the old one failed - new reservoir tank also waiting to go on.
Rock sliders fitted last week once the compressor was sorted
And finally today I have swapped front ARB bushes, will do rear when I can borrow the workshop - safe so say old ones were a little worse for wear.
Also spoken to TP4x4 to order a winch bumper which will be the final big mod for a while - until I think of more and the bank balance allows... ๐
Bumper will be something a bit like this:

Here's hoping nothing else breaks in the mean time. ๐

One of the big series we cover is the British Cross Country championship, last thing I want is to get stuck on the way in in to something on stage/off road course - better to be safe than sorry I guess. ๐
