2005 DISCOVERY 3 2.7 HSE AUTOBOX PROBLEMS!!!
Hi guys i am new to this site in need of desperate help, i have a 2005 land rover discovery 3 2.7 hse automatic. it has covered 146000 miles now and it started to play up on me, it first started with idling funny when and a normal speed on the motorway it then followed by a vibration when braking and accelerating like steering wheel would vibrate, but now it will judder when accelerating like if a clutch was slipping??? as the engine gets hotter the worst the slip gets ive checked all service history and its not showing it could of had a gearbox oil and filter. Now im pretty sure its going to be expensive so this is the question im asking have any of you had this before? whats the best port of call and i dont no any one who would be able to look for me and carry out the work and inspect it for me. i live in ramsgate kent if anyone has any information or would like to take a look for some work that would be great or put me in the direction. thanks guys

Hi James and welcome to the forum. I have had similar issues and ended up changing the box. You can put in Dr tranny but with the mileage you have on it may need a new gearbox or at least a TC.
Sounds like torque converter slipping, this is fluid driven by the gearbox oil, a flush may prevent the slip for a while, but you're looking at about £1k for a new converter
Short term , try a tube of Dr Tranny, its an addative that will assist the oil and may take away the slip and judder, again only for a period of time
Geoff. site sponsor (and yes with the . ) has a flushing machine, he's in Kent, so not too far from youAltox GSM FBH controller thread

Okay thanks guys its definatey what i was thinking, is the torque converter part of the whole auto box? also i have noticed you have to push the lever forward hard to get the key out when in park? related issue? or something else? also is swapping the box a big job and where would i look for a replacment and a mechanic. Thanks really appreicate your help.
Or could quite well be linked to you gearbox troubles
The shift lever is connected via a cable to a link on the outside of the auto box
There is a bush bearing that can sieze up....this causes shift problems as well as being stiff to move
Search on here you will find the description of the fault & the fix.BREXIT - done properly.
