2005 D3 Preventative Maintenance |
|
Hi all
So, if you were getting a D3 2005 as something to lane etc, which has say 170,000 on it, what would be your first few tasks?
Not talking mods but more preventative maintenance.

Put it on a ramp and take a good look underneath.
I’d probably change at least some of this list:
- engine, all filters (cabin, air, oil and if diesel fuel)
- change front & rear diff and transfer box fluid
- ATF
- change coolant (or at least test)
- change brake fluids (or at least test)
- figure out (if Diesel) if the oil pump has been changed and go from there
- figure out when the belts have been changed and go from there
- take a look at the brake pads, brake disks
- test the EPB
- take a look at the tires
Kind of depends what’s been done recently...

PM me an email address and I'll email you my spreadsheet of everything I've done or had to do maintenance wise to my 55 plate D3 HSE over 9 years and @150K miles.
It might give you some pointers.

Nasher,
Hey would you mind sending me your spreadsheet on the maint. also? I am soon to recieve my 2005 D3 with 94K on the clock, so I plan to start replacing all fluids and checking other items to get as near to ground zero as I can.
As Always thanks

You could try trading it in for a volvo? Seems to have prevented 100% of our maintenance bills in the last 12 months I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

If its got a sunroof check the drain tubes are draining, mine blocked caused water to gather under the footwell carpets and issues with a "module" getting wet, all fixed under warranty but it was 3 days work in the end.
As posted above ATF needs changing but ideally look for a proper flushing service near you. The torque converters can cause judder under load etc. MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten
