200,000 miler passed this morning
Had a new windscreen fitted as it cracked when I put the heated screen on in the snow- and a couple or advisories- got none last year- which will be cheap enough to fix. Biggest is a deteriorated CV boot. He fixed my brake pad warning light cable problem . Total expenditure £82 including the test.
Will need a bit of undersealing at the back once the weather improves he tells me but otherwise it’s all good and running like a sewing machine.
Got to be pleased. It’s had an expansion bottle this year from memory which I fitted.
God knows what the fuel bill has been . ....Discovery 3 tdv6 HSE 2007

Brilliant news. Mine is currently on 202,000 and I’ve just spend a small sum on front brakes/tyres and a full service (all filters and oils) it doesn’t use oil or water either.
Belts and oil pump are getting done again in the spring - it’s on the road to 300,000 then hopefully!
These seem to thank you for using them and just getting the mileage on them.Defender 110 2.4 TDCi Utility Station Wagon.

My MY12 XS went 3 weeks ago on 185,000, I was daring myself to take it over 200,000, but didn't want another belt service to folk out for, so it went in for a nice MY16 Landmark 😁 would be even better if someone didn't stuff it in this morning in the ice.. a women came down our land, my wife pulled to the side, the other women locked up and ran her freelander down the front corner. Dashcam shows her fault so should be all good..

200,000 miles is just a number. The servicing and regular usage are I think the key?
I bought this one with 180,000 miles from memory. My wife’s Volvo XC70 has almost 200,000 miles on it which we have covered half of. My classic Alfa has 170,000 miles on it too. I was an artic driver and think mechanically sympathetic driving certainly helps to achieve bigger mileages.Discovery 3 tdv6 HSE 2007

Just reading other threads regarding mileage and bottom end bearings.
If you’ve managed to do 200k on the original engine, what’s the chances it’ll do another 100k?Defender 110 2.4 TDCi Utility Station Wagon.

With some sensible maintenance and servicing and some sympathetic driving there is no reason it shouldn’t get there.Discovery 3 tdv6 HSE 2007

Don’t forget a healthy dose of luck. If those pesky bearing shells want to rotate, is there any routine servicing or preventative maintenance that will stop them doing so?

Ours did 400 trouble free miles at the weekend in torrential downpours and wind. Now on 205,000 and returning 32 mpg. Hasn’t used a drop of oil in the time i have owned it.Discovery 3 tdv6 HSE 2007
