This is the oil I use in my MY16 D4. I also use it in my MY04 TD5 Disco, MY09 Puma powered Transit and all Stihl strimmers, hedge cutters etc. JAB are local to me and I collected.
I used a Comma FB spec before I had the D4 but had to upgrade to FC because of the DPF. I cannot comment on the 4 as I am only 3 tanks in but the TD5 and Puma engines are no different using this than the FB oil I used before.
It is such a good price it is hard to find a reason why not??

Right, trying to get my head around the 2SO business. For my D3 with no DPF I need 2SO semi synthetic (I think) JASO FB? And need to add 40ml/ltr diesel, so 280ml for a typical 70 ltr fill. Do I put the 2SO I the tank first to get it mixed or add it last?

Any suggestions for a good source from regular places like Tesco, Asda, B&Q, Halfords etc. Got to keep it under the radar atm so mail order is out.

In my area I can only find FC rated at B&Q. Not the cheapest at £9 a litre but seems to do the job ok. I'm pleased with the results.

 2007 HSE - 96k miles
New belts + tensioners.
V8 Brake upgrade.
EGR blank and remap.
Autobox flushed +new filter.
Diffs and trans box oil changed.

Just done the maths and for my 6,500 mile summer jolly I'll need to carry 36 ltrs. Two Jerrycans equivalent of 2 stroke. Big Cry Big Cry

Del, you could buy en route or use premium diesel or throw caution to wind and not add for a few thousand miles. Who knows,2SO may even be cheaper in Nordics.

Or use Millers Eco Max additive, 75ml per tank full, 4 bottles would easily see you right I reckon

I don't think anything is cheaper in the Nordics. Big Cry Big Cry However, a cunning plan is being hatched as I'll be passing through Poland and the Baltics where things mostly are a lot cheaper. Whistle Whistle

In the mean time I've changed to SooooperDooooper diesel for good now (apart from in Finland where it doesn't seem to be available). On fully loaded 450 mile run today I achieved 34.4mpg, last 3 times I've done the same run I've always been a smidgen under 30mpg. Actual, not lie-o-meter. Mr. Green Mr. Green

I think you've slipped the decimal point, I think you'll find you only need 3.6l of 2 stroke.

I've not used 2 stroke in my D4 yet, but I've used it in a Defender (2.4 Puma) and a number if Fords. 2 stroke is a fair bit more viscous than diesel and to overcome my concerns about it mixing well I pre-mix one part 2 stroke with 2 parts diesel. I then add the mix at the ratio of 1:100 to my tank so 40l of diesel gets 400ml of the mix, 25l of diesel gets 250ml of the mix etc. The result is a little less than 40ml per litre (probably closer to 33ml per litre). But it's easier to work out how much to add following a fill, you don't have to be so accurate with the measurement as say adding 50ml too much of the mix is only adding ~17ml more 2 stroke to the tank and given the pre-mix is much closer to the viscosity of diesel I expect it mixes in the tank easier. I always add the mix after I get home following filling the tank.

I used ratio of 1/200. Del, having used it for seveveral years and doing 20k miles a year, I don't think I have bought anything like 36 litres. So I think you maths may be wrong.

When I used 2SO I added it before filling with diesel. The diesel should flush it down the filler neck and mix it all up in the tank.

I've stopped using 2SO altogether and using millers in every tanks now, my mpg had got better and engine feels like it pulls better.

I use 5ml per litre which about 350ml per tank. 40ml per litre is way too much I think, that is 1.4 litres per 70 litre tank!!

Question....

I thought this thread had died the death & gone away.....not the case

To the users if 2SO:
1) do you get better fuel consumption ? As this is the only measurable thing in its favour, all the other things said it runs smoother", "sounds quieter", "runs better" even "feels better" are very subjective.

2) if the consumption is better, does the fuel saved more than pay for the 2SO used ?

3) if the users of 2SO also use fuel additives that improve the cetane number are you sure that any benefits aren't the additive & not the 2SO ?

I get that 2SO in a two-stroke engine is mandatory & if you get the ratio wrong expensive to repair damage happens.....do users see benefits in any other area....can't be reduced maintenance as other than fluid & filter changes there ain't much more.
The changes may be "better", "faster" starts in cold weather ?

I don't add 2SO as I fear the products of combustion (of the 2SO) have to go somewhere & I fear that the ERV's, Turbo charger, exhaust valves, piston rings are places I cant get to so don't take the risk.
I do occasionally use fuel additives....Millers being the usual one.

If the 2SO acted as an upper cylinder lubricant & at minimum kept the piston rings clean & free I may alter my opinion.
But just puzzled that 2SO is added so readily into vehicles that cost a lot & are costly to fix
