2-DIN head unit

Cheers all,

I've searched all over the place but couldn't find the thread where someone reported having replaced the original LR head unit with a 2-DIN dvd-player (Pioneer?).

In fact I'm not looking for tips on how to change the HU or how to cope with CAN-BUS - I'm trying to find a good looking trim piece for a 2-DIN unit. It would be nice to know if they are available commercially, or do we need epoxy resin and sand paper Smile

Thanks, that's exactly the install I was searching for!

Since the airbag warning light has no image, it seems that Jager24 also painted the switch panel above the HU. Nevertheless there is some variation in the tones of gray in all three panels.. But nice trim anyway!

OK. Instead of fiber glass and sand paper I decided to go for aluminum. I have a friend that owns a small metal workshop and does a lot of odd bits and pieces for Finnish car audio competitors.

So, a small poll: would anyone else be interested in getting one of these 2-DIN alu trims? The cost is yet unknown, so let's only assume it will be somewhere between 100-200 euros shipping excluded. That's about 65-130 GBP or 150-300 USD. Not cheap, but the fit will be perfect, you will not be able to break it and the guy next door doesn't have one. The surface can be brushed, polished, painted etc etc, up to you.

I intend making one from MDF and painting it.
A car audio place quoted me $1000 to fit 2 din player making one fro MDF a and covering in Vinyl. Shocked

If you are going to produce in quantity better to do in plastic or fiberglass after making a mould.
