Hello,
I've heard the same story by a LR employee but didn't mention it here cos it's not "official"...
which's absolutely normal if LR don't want to ruin the sale of their D5's in stock. I was told sales were a disaster in France and something would have to be done...
Again check this: http://approved.landrover.fr/fr/rechercher...;model=594
This is unprecedented, out of 25 approved Discos, 22 are D5's! Normally people would've traded in their D4's to get the new model...but not this time.

Thanks for the info.
2018 model it is more likely to be then
After driving the D5 I don't think there is much I would want changed, only the bootlid and lack of Apple CarPlay/ AndroidAuto or Mirrorlink really.
But I would have lived with those issues to be honest.

So do you think JLR have effectively done a "Scorpio" with people buying the last of the old shape before the new shape.
Even though the Scorpio was a better car than the outgoing Granada.
If they are changing the looks a little at least they are doing it quickly.
And having driven an old shape RRS extensively and also a D4 and the current FFRR (albeit 2 yrs ago) I can honestly say I felt the the D5 drove very much like a Range Rover.
And we will be going for the 3.0. As a poster has said for the £1000 or so you would be daft not to, they have the same RoadTax and fuel consumption will not be hugely different I suspect.

I doubt they're changing the looks of the car.
All thats changing is slight spec adjustments, extra kit on the HSE that was previously only standard on HSE Lux.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

You are probably right, though Merc were still accepting orders on the S Class for September delivery and the new one is updated a fair bit under the skin, new engines, 4matic for the first time in RHD aswell as a raft of improvements to autonomous driving systems.
I can't say I have ever heard of order books being closed for an annual updates for the new model year.
As an example I ordered a brand new WRX back in 2003, there was a bit of a delay so I said I will take delivery in January so it would be on an 04/53 rather than an 03/53.
When the car arrived it was a 2004 model not the 2003 model that I ordered. One of the very first 2004 models in the UK.
I know that was many years ago and obviously JLR produce a much more high end product with lots of factory options that can be specified.
I shall be waiting for the 2018 model, and it will be the 3.0. Maybe the extra delay will allow a larger deposit to be saved and we can get a HSE Lux.

You have PM
Wait for the 18MY, if what I've sent you is true, I'll be gutted not to have it.
Didn't want to put it on the public forum, as customers ain't supposed to know.
18MY, things are happening.
That should get the debate started 23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

I would be happy either way
I liked the colour of yours, but my wife just looked at me!
We are going Corris Grey with Black wheels, grilles and mirrors. With a black roof wrap being added and black insert on bootlid after purchase.

Hi J77,
Any chance of a PM with the MY18 details.
Just about to pull the trigger on a SD4 HSE with options.
Would be good to know if I should learn to be more patient.
I wouldn't touch the v6 diesel - it's basically the same engine as the one in the D4/RRS which tends to break its crank --

Nice to see wild speculation. They haven't stopped D5 production as such.... the Velar is currently being built on the same line and strong demand for that is taking a higher priority.

I have not heard of anybody breaking the crank on the 3.0.
In much the same way as the EGR valves didn't have the tendency to stick.
I won't mention inlet manifolds cracking though! As for sure the 3.0 had that issue around 2011/2012 build period.
I was told by a JLR Tech that the bottom end was different.

Not what I was told when trying to put in an order.
The statement was fairly simple, no more orders till 2018 model year came out. But there was a possibility of a discounted 2017 model for fairly quick delivery dependant on what was in the system. But clearly no choice on options etc.
The chap that told me had nothing to gain by making it up as he is our Finance broker not a salesman and he wasn't informed of the situation by a Salesman.
Either way the truth will come out in the next few months.

Thanks for adding to the debate. With an emoticon rather than an actual comment.
I know more than a few Jag owners with up to 200k on their 3.0tdv6 lumps and none has had an issue.
Are you saying you know of loads of 3.0tdv6 engines that have had bottom end problems?
