Well, after 1 month and 1000 miles I have my first problem.Luckily I am at home. The alarm sounded when I used the key fob to open the car so I locked it and reopened.O.k so far. When I put the key in the ignition all the dash lights flashed and no action but a warning message that I had a Park Brake Fault, remove key from ignition and apply park brake. I did this and got a message saying Transmission fault and then park brake fault. All dash lights flashing.Rang L.R. Assistance at 10.55 am who rang me back at 11.05 to say Technician could not be with me until 1.30pm but he is a specialist who stands the best chance of sorting the problem. I will let you know the outcome.

Is that because the battery was flat?
Those error messages all happen with a flat battery.
Question is, why is your battery dead??

I too had a battery charge problem early in the car's life which caused warning light issues. I was told by LR that the electronics on the car monitor the battery state but if the battery is below voltage it sometimes will only charge back to that lower voltage?? They also told me that the "cure" was to have the dealer charge the battery overnight as home charging won't bring the battery back to full strength (indeed he said home charging wasn't advsable due to the type of battery fitted). Cause seems to be that the car was PDI'd with doors etc open and lights on but wasn't recharged before delivery

Part 2
L.R assistance arrived at 1.15 pm and instantly found battery positive terminal loose.Started with power pack and I did a 70 min run to top up battery.Switched off on my return and it was just the same.Technician returned and diagnosed loose main earth cable on engine.I followed him to my local dealers and they confirmed it.It will be ready at 9.00am tomorrow. They say it is a pig to get to,but their technician will be in early to finish. They could not have been more helpfull and lent me a Freelander to get home.

Well! Collected Vehicle from Dealer on Wed. Morning.Told that earth strap from engine to body was loose and was now O.K..Decided after a run to leave Disco until Friday to see what happened. Yes, the battery was flat again.Rang L.R. Assistance and technician arrived, having collected local dealers technician on the way. They thought duff battery or voltage drain, took her away at 1.00pm with a promise to ring me. No call. I rang at 9.00 this morning and still waiting for call back. How many visits before I reject it?

What troubles me about this is the diagnosis. Was the +ive terminal really loose? Was the engine strap earth loose too? Were both these wild guesses, or did they contribute to battery failure? Why didn't they check the battery integrity in the first place - an obvious place to start when you are faced with a dead battery?
Whilst I hope that they have got to the root of the problem, it really isn't very impressive.
