17" wheels in rain & snow

I've just swapped my 19" HSE rims with Scorpion Zeros for a set of 17"s with Continental Contact 4x4s just to see what the difference is. Apart from a little noisier & seemed to turn in a bit more easily, all seems pretty similar to the Pirellis. I must confess the "test route" was to Dominos & back, all of 8 miles! Thought they looked a bit small compared with the 19"s but look growing on me.

Has anyone experienced the Conti/17" combo in rain and snow? How are they for general day to day use?

If they are OK I'll use up the tread as they are virtually new tyres on these wheels (£300 from ebay).
