Hello
Which side should the 13 pin electric socket be fitted on a discovery 4, or does it not matter?
And when fitted, does it matter whether the socket lid hinges left to right or top to bottom?
I have my electric on the right hand side looking at the back of the car, and the hinge on the right hand side.
Annoyingly, I have a 13 pin to 7 pin adaptor for my Thule bike rack and the adaptor does not fit.
Can the socket be rotated easily?

Mine is on the right, with the hinge on the left hand side.
I use an adaptor (tin tent is dual 7 pin) and that works just fine.
Have you got the spacer ring fitted? When I first put mine on I didn't see the point of it so left it off.
However it was a pig to twist the adaptor when I plugged it in, grazing knuckle job. Can't remember if I had it hinged on the left side or not at that point.
I then added the spacer (and possibly turned the socket) and it is now a doddle to use.
Hope this helps

Mines fitted exactly the same as yours, no issues with fitting a 13 pin to 7 pin adapter.
Flat part of the adapter inserted at 12 o’Clock and turn to 3 o’clock so the flap closes on the the flat of the adapter.
Hold the flap with the spare hand, the flap can be sharp.

Managed with a bit of force to insert at 12 and rotate to 3 o’clock but it would have been a lot easier had the hinge been on the other side.
The metal rim at the top of the opening is slightly curved downwards (by design I hope and not accident...) and makes it difficult to insert the adaptor. The adaptor is from Thule but I assume they are all the same?
There is more room at the bottom of the opening.
Also of interest is that when I was testing the lights on the thule rack I depressed the brake pedal with ignition on but not the engine. When I came to start the engine later the brake pedal would not depress and I could not start the car! Any ideas why?

Mine is on the right with the flap on the right iirc. Although it is a little tight a 13 pin plug fits in no issues. However the adapters to 7 pin tend to be a little larger so I had to trim down the stud and flat bit that the flap sits on to!
The adapter was only a few quid and still works perfectly, I just cut it down enough so that it could turn without fowling the metal bumper bar cut out bit as that’s where it was tight.
Can take some pics later if it would help?

Mines opposite way round no problems at all, two 7 pin sockets on car It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Swapped mine recently from 12n/s to 13pin. Genuine kit and fitted as per instructions, but the flap catches on the bodywork
