Unfortunately I joined at the time Martin imposed the don't change your name thing and a capital to smalls wasn't deemed that necessary, so I can but apologise for my lack of forethought as to the state of my Caps Lock when I registered for the site

Going back on topic, had my car serviced recently and I noted to the dealer that the fuel had dropped to 26mpg from it's usual 31. Also a squeak on moving off for 20secs or so.
Result new rear brake pads (warranty) as they were binding. So thanks JMC for reporting this.

i filled my tank the other day and have just done 300 miles on the motorway. sat at 65mph all the way. its now done 340 miles and got about quarter of a tank left. might just see past 400 miles to a tank full. i was towing 2 tonnes of vintage tractor though. do any of you have mpg experience when towing ??2005 05 d3

Yes i have the same or similar results when towing. Normal 32mpg Avg on good run without towing.
Hook up an Ifor Williams twin axle horse trailer and the mpg is 24mpg. Strange thing is this seems to be when it is either empty or full, head or tail wind no change.
I have found that keping speed to legal which i think is 55mph when towing (correct me if im wrong someone), does achieve the 24mpg though. The idea is to use the torque of the diesel not to many revs.
