| 09 Disco4 3.0 TdV6 HSE245 bhp buyers advice? |

Hello,
new to this forum, but not to the Land Rover world (always had Defenders and owned disco 2 before).
Now I'm after a Discovery 3-4 to regularly tow a trailer with a heavy load (around 3.5 ton gross weight) on longer distance.
I came accross a 09 Disco 4 3.0 TDV6 HSE with 245 bhp and 60 000 miles (95000 km's). What are the things to check when I would go and have a look at the car? What costs can I expect the next 20-30K miles?
The car has a kaymar rear sparewheel carrier and a extra dieseltank (100l). Any good?
Price should be around 21K GBP, is this a fair price?

Hi H and welcome to the forum!
At that age and price I would say it was a Disco 3 and not a 4, as far as I know the 4 didn't come out until the 59 plate. It could be someone has tarted a 3 up with later grill and lights but either way far too cheap for a HSE, my alarm bells would be ringing!

There's a few 09 plate D4's about! The press cars were 09 and there's a few 09s for sale!!!! Mainly earliest were 59's (like my old D4) but there are a few earlier 09s. Mainly Nara Bronze HSEs I seem to remember. 2023 Ineos Grenadier 3.0 Diesel Commercial

Judging from my recent search for a car you would be looking at least another £10k for a 4 HSE with that sort of mileage in the UK.
So it's either an absolute bargain or a bit of a worry.

Having just bought an 09 D4 (mickyd4's advice on them is spot on), I am up to date on pricing and sourcng. You could not get a D4 for this price in the uk and they are rare outside of dealers at present. The last post is right, around £10k more Brian - East Sussex

Thanks for your replies!
Had a look at the car yesterday and it is a 59 plate (august 2009) and has 96000 km on the clock.
It is definately a Disco 4 with a 3l engine + the new dashboard.
price is 21885 incl VAT with all accessories, second set of wheels/tires and front runner roofrack.
just made an offer to the seller, if all goes well I'll be driving it end of the week!
