I think you need to go with that gut feeling and replace the matrix. Mods:

Had a root around under the bonnet, the flow and return (Heater hose in and out on the diagrams) are nice and hot so heat is heading in but appears not to be getting into or through the matrix - am I correct?
Should I seek someone here that can flush it? Is there anything that I need to highlight?
Thanks in advance
If both the feed and return are warm - would this not indicate that water is flowing through the matrix?
I would imagine if the matrix was blocked there would be no water flow as a result surely the pipes would be cool to the touch?

Is the matrix a simple in and out pipe with fins coming off it or is a more complex structure with smaller pipe network and associated fins? See pic of D3 matrix
Otherwise it is looking like it might be the blender flap

A little more research today shows the heater blending flaps openning and closing - very handy USB boroscope helped out.
More and more looks like the matrix, anyone have an idea of time and cost involved for a dealer to swap out?

05D3 - internal heating
Hi Dave, I know it was a bit ago but did you ever resolve this, I am having very similar issues. Heat works very well on the driver side but no heat on the passenger. Mechanic has said to replace this matrix at 300 euro approx.

Yes, I had the matrix replaced shortly after that and it was like night and day. Best €300 I spent. I had it done at a LR specialist rather than a dealer
