'05 v's '06 'S' Specifications |
|
Hello chaps
As you may have read I have recently placed and order for a D3 TDV6 S Auto and I believe I will be getting a 2006 model year vehicle. According to my dealer there have been no changes to the 'S' specification but I am always a little untrusting...
Looking at the LR website it looks like I will have a spacesaver spare rather than a full size alloy; does anyone know if anything else is changing for the '06 models?
The other thing I can't work out from the website is lights. Under the BiXenon bit it now says R for recommended, rather than standard. Further down it referes to BiN/AXenon headlights as standard on the 'S' spec and higher models - Are these what most people would refer to as Xenon's or something else?
Thanks
Dan

The spec page looks a bit of a mess, doesn't it!
I strongly suggest you look at the detailed spec that should have been supplied to you by the dealer with the quote/order. It details such marvels as the fact that you get an engine, for instance, but covers all other standard and non-standard fittments.
Reading the spec page, it looks to me as though the S no longer comes with bi-xenons as standard - or at least that is way I read it.

That was my understanding too - no BiXenons on MY2006 - having asked the dealer to supply me the spec. sheet on each.
The other differences (I can't remember the exact LR terms) that I could determine were
MY2006
adds comfort lighting pack - puddle lamps and vanity lamps
loses ColdClimate pack (heating elements in front screen, front and rear seats (not 3rd row))
Those changes were enough to support a decision to go for MY2005 for me. Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

Well, I go to sign the official paperwork on Monday. I'm not bothered about losing the xenons but would be very unhappy about losing cold climate pack... In fact this could be a deal breaker. Looking at the website though it certainly appears that the cold climate pack is still standard. Guess I'll find out on Monday unless someone can give me a definitive answer before then.
Thanks for the replies.

Apologies, Dan,
I've got home and looked through the paperwork I had: the heated screen and seats are on the list.
The bright pack is the front fogs, puddle lamps on rear doors etc.
The confusion was due to the fact that the cold climate pack is not listed in MY2006 (and is on the MY2005) yet lists the components. The bright pack is listed and so are the components. Go figure, as the Americans have it. Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

Thanks for the clarification.
So to summarise; I lose bi-xenon but gain front fogs, puddle lights etc?
Is there anything else you notice on the list you have?

only other thing I notice is lack of mudflaps, but if they're absent, you could probably get them included from the dealer. Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

Is it not strange that the newer year model comes with a lesser spec. Has there been a corresponding price cut.
Me thinks not.

Not in the least!
They are adopting the crisp manufacturers' approach - same packet size, less inside (as they cannot do the bigger packet, same content with a Discovery!!)

Dan,
had a similar experience with my order for my SE with 'P for preferred' cropping up n the muddled updated spec page, whatever that means!

Picked up new 2006 TD6 HSE on Friday.
The plastic ticket clips on the windscreen seem to have been deleted. Surely not ? !!!!
By the way, where are the sunglass holder(s) on the D3? Ron Dunbar

That's a shame I find them really useful, I know it sounds stupid, but it stops all those tickets gumming up the windows DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

I think they cost pennies and just clip behind the windscreen rubber, so a dealer spares dept should get them easily.
